I have been reading a bit about this and I have done a search and not come up with much. Who is this recommended for? Is it for someone who just has like 10-15 lbs left? Would it be wise for someone who has around 40lb to lose to try it?? I realize you only do it for a short time and I realize I can't lose all 40 lbs on it, but could it give me a nice boost? I think I have the discipline at this pint to do it, but would like to hear Thunder or Leah's thoughts or anyone else who may know. Thanks! :)

It is also referred to as PSMF. Here is some information to get you started:

Thanks Carebear I think after reading that , its probably not for me, If in the end I am not coming out ahead fat loss wise ...whats the point. also how much water gain is typical to gain back?

How could you perform a relatively substantial diet and not come out ahead fat loss wise? dont confuse water gains with fat gains following a diet.

A PSMF can be a relatively powerful tool to start a longer dietary practice.

so you think it would be a good thing, I am just worried about gaining the weight back I have read the obove links but am having trouble figuring out if it would be that much better then what I am doing now. which is basically is staying in a defit all week with a couple cheat meals once a week, and clean food choices.

I am going to try it. I ordered the book and I'm just patiently waiting for it to come in the mail. You can go to the bodyrecomposition website for more information, success stories, etc.

I haven't read it all yet but certainly read lots on peoples journals that have done it on ahem.. BR... you potentially will gain some of the scale weight back, but if your careful and follow the program properly even back to normal dieting then you should reap the benefits.

I did a two week PSMF a week and a half ago, and I haven't gained any fat back. In fact, I think I may have even lost a little more because my clothes are a little looser now than when I ended my PSMF. I never weighed myself during the run because the scale lies and is evil, so I don't know how much water I gained back (or how many pounds I lost during the crash diet). Don't let scale weight rules you. It did me until I got fed up and just threw the darn thing out. We can think all our hard work is lost because of a stupid number on the scale. Go by your measurements and clothes.

It's drastic, but actually designed for people with a little more weight to lose. UD2.0 was designed for more active, leaner people.

You need to read the book though, before even considering the diet.

:)

And why worry about gaining the water back? You WANT to gain the water back. You don't want to gain the fat back, and if you do it right you shouldn't (or if you do it should be minimal).

I'm starting PSMF on Tuesday. My fat loss has stalled over the last 6 weeks or so. The book was informative, and I think I will for sure come out ahead in the fat loss game.
I have about 10-15lbs of fat to go. (my best guess) I am excited to start. I plan on taking weekly pictures for my journal. My plan is to stay on it 3 weeks.
I DO plan on weighing myself weekly too....I am addicted to the evil scale:finger:

Thnaks everyone for the comments, I think I will watch fitmommy's progress and read what I can find for now. Just looked at the book and its 40.00 which i cannot afford at this moment. So I will save it as one of my big guns for later :P It is designed for ppl with alot of weight left to lose? hmmmm.....

depends on what you mean as a "good thing"

its a tool, an extremely difficult but extremely effective, tool.

If you work back to maitnenance and dont go back to the normal eating that got you overweight in the first place, you wont really gain back the fat. water, yes, but fat no.

Its not designed for the people who are fat, its just most effective in that range, as fatties can lose more fat and less muscle because they are fat. As they start to lean out the body tries to tip it towards losing muscle and less fat.

Someone: The genesis of the PSMF is for morbidly obese, completely sedentary people who face dire health consequences unless they take some of the weight off. Is this correct?

Lyle: Yes.

I think UD2.0 would probably be a better bet for someone leaner. I can't find the thread right now, but I recall Lyle suggesting PSMF for women over like 24% bodyfat (don't remember for men)...

I'm at about 25% bodyfat. So I'm giving PSMF a try. going for cat2. I have confidence it will jump start me again. I have come a long way. I just have been "stuck" for awhile:scratch:
If it doesn't work for me I suppose I'll have to get the UD2 book:oops: NOT that I want to spend anymore money.

Why are those your two only options?

Any non retarded diet = fat loss.

Oh they are not the only 2 options, I know that. I have lost about 9 inches following a "not retarded" diet.
I just like to read new info, may try it, or not. shits and giggles, you know.

Sometimes I get impatient. I am doing PSMF to get rid of some fat before a vacation. Fat that has stuck around too long.

I'm on a break now. But not including a couple weekends, No I havn't taken a break since December.:finger: I am in the middle of a 2 week break now. I'm eating at maintence, not 100% clean though. And I jumped right into maintence, I did not do it slowly. I'm so bad.
I have gained 1lb, I expected that though.
Starting PSMF on tuesday.

Naw.
I didn't find it very hard but I think it's because I'm lazy and don't want to make my meals anyways. Plus, carbs always make me hungry so I didn't have hunger issues with low/zero carb. And when I did, there was SF jello. :D

SF jello has carbs. . .especially if you eat the whole damn box.
