Let's talk people! I did not get my tubes tied when I had my last c-section and I am looking to get hubbie snipped. He's all for it but I want to know what he can expect. Anyone have any stories, positive or negative....

Vic finally had his done after of 5th son. Easy as pie for him. 15-20min procedure, totally awake. Home rested in bed with bags of peas (to reduce swelling post op)
No regrets on either part. He and his brother went together lol.
New method for women that's pretty cool:
No-Incision Method — Hysteroscopic Tubal Sterilization
A no-incision method for tubal sterilization is now available. With Essure, a clinician inserts two small, soft metallic coils — microinserts — through the vagina, cervix, and uterus into the fallopian tubes. Once in place, the coils cause scar tissue to grow, blocking the tubes. After two years of follow-up, Essure was found to be 99.8 percent effective at preventing pregnancy.
During the procedure, the clinician uses local anesthesia to numb the cervix. You may be offered other medication to help you relax and reduce your discomfort. A small, rigid, tube-like instrument called a scope is inserted into the vagina and through the cervix. Fluid moving through the scope helps the clinician see the opening of the tubes. The microinserts are positioned in the opening of the tubes.
Three months after insertion, a test called a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is performed to make sure the tubes are permanently blocked. HSG is an x-ray test that takes pictures of the uterus and fallopian tubes after a dye has been inserted through the cervix. Until the HSG shows that the inserts are in the correct position and the tubes are blocked, another method of birth control must be used.

My BF is "fixed" (teehee) and he said it was a breeze!

My husband had this done in late June. It was a breeze. The recovery wasn't bad since I made him stay off his feet for 3 days straight. No regrets here, either. :) We have a 10-year-old son and that's plenty. If we want one later we plan to adopt.

We went with the tube snippage (as long as he was in there, right?). But my four girlfriends and my sister's husbands were snipped with no regrets. They all reported minor soreness afterwards and were back at normal activity within a day.
If we want to add to our family we plan to adopt also. Lots of children out there to love!

did you ladies know I was an adoption social worker? Feel free to pm me down the road if you have any questions. Thanks for all the V info I heard it is not a huge deal for guys, though I heard a story today of a friend's hub who was not frozen enough and he almost went through the ceiling when they snipped, yikes!

DH had a V after baby #4. He actually had a bit more pain than most. They had to knock him out for it because some of his "tubing" was higher up and required a bit of pulling and tugging to reach. He couldn't walk for a week!:( No regrets though. I figured it was time for him to "take one for the team"!!

It's evil....:hehehmn:
Okay so it's not evil...
Mine took just about 2 hours to do, and 3 drs and 1 urologist. Took about a month to recover and still have some pain associated with it (it's been 2 years)
The worst part was no lifting fro 3 months... :(
Homeschoolmom, you hubby was lucky.... i was awake the whole time and the valium had worn off after about 20 mins...

Damn! That's awful!! Any reason as to why your vasectomy experience was so different than most men's?

My husband's vasectomy took 6 minutes. It was a scalpel-less type.

My husband had it done about 6 years ago. No problems at all. Said it was a little uncomfortable, made friends with a frozen bag of peas all weekend.
Then he was fine.

Ahh no worries I'm in like the 1% of all that have this done that it is not so easy...
When guys or others ask me, I usually tell them I'm not the one you should be talking to:funny:

C Let's just say I've had worse cuts on my finger... It's a simple office call... During the procedure, the doctor and I talked about investments.. Come to think about it she was very nice lady... I forget her name... It's a no big deal kinda of deal. Just give him a day or two off and he'll be back to saddle ridin' in no time...
