So, when you are trying to sub foods, what do you look at?
For example, I am trying to switch rice cakes to oat meal.
Should I be looking to get same amount of cals in forms of oats or should I focus on the same amount of carbs?

I assume rice cakes are in the PWO meal? They're a quickly digesting carb, which is good. Oatmeal is generally not.

To answer the original question, you'd want to match up the calories.
