What are the chances of having a false 'positive' preg. test?

little to none. there are a few exceptions. there are certain meds that can increase the chances of a false positive.
i'm sure if you call the number on the box of the test, they'd tell you what the meds are or they may even be listed in the instructions.

you have to have the hormone in your urine that creates the reaction of a positive on the test. no hormone-no positive.

Thanks everyone! :) I'm super exicted, and a little scared! Just got back from the doc...I"m 5 weeks right now. Due May 23/07 !

I've been over analyzing everything now though....the last couple of weeks I've been drinking coffee (not a whole lot...but still not sure about the whole caffiene thing) & I had some advil for a couple of days earlier in the week b/c I was having such bad cramps....I'm assuming that is going to be okay and not hurt the baby as long as I don't have any more of that stuff right?

you'll be fine!!!!
i had a cup of coffee almost everyday of my pregnancy. the advil shouldn't have any negative repurcussions. just stick to acetaminofen (tylenol).
congratulations again!!!
i bet your mind is whirling!! how fun.

yeah, I had a raging headache a few days back and the doc's office said tylenol only. The advil can be bad for the baby's developing liver, so just do not take anymore.

And the caffiene, well, I read that it speeds up your heartrate and therefore the baby's, so I have quit drinking it. Ask your doc at your 1st appt.
