In terms of research

Ginger and Vitamin B6

What I would term Gingernut cookies are good as well, dry with good bits of ginger in them.

Ginger and Vitamin B6
I tried that my last pg and it didn't work.:lol3:

After 4 pg here are my suggestions, eat frequently, eat what you crave. I wanted grapefruit with salt and that is usually what helped my queasiness. Get plenty of sleep.Keep well hydrated. Qatorade also helped for me. Quite honestly, I vomited almost everyday for the first trimester with my pregnancies, you might just have to endure. Usually once you get past your first trimester you start feeling better. Good luck.

Yeah, the ginger didn't work for me either.
I used the nausea wrist bands and those really helped me out. I ate whatever I felt like eating when I could. Eating any protein was pretty much out of the question - just the thought of it made me want to barf. I got bronchitis when I was early in my pregnancy and I had hever had bronchitis...so cough uncontrollably + nausea = a LOT of puking.

I'm sorry you're miserable! I can commiserate. All 3 of my pg were a blur for the first trimester, and my last I was pretty much sick for 8 of 9 months.

Try everything till you find something that works, if only for a little while. Ginger ale, wrist bands, whatever you can keep down, even if it's crap (it's only temporary). Sadly, for me, Arby's roast beef and McD's fries always seemed to do the trick.
Your dr. can prescribe meds if it gets really bad. I finally had to take some at about eleven weeks because I couldn't keep anything down.

Good luck and remember how great the outcome is! Sometimes it's the only thing that will get you through.

thanks so much everyone! Yep at this point it usually popscicles, crackers and ginger ale when I feel sick. It's so weird drinking non-diet! I haven't done that since high school! I feel like such a rebel!

I feel sorry fpr the people who seem to have had it worse than me- In the a.m., it is really not that bad, in the middle of the day I feel almost back to normal, and then in the evening, from 4pm on, it is awful.

Amyloo- I have already had the arby's roast beef sandwich after a friend reccomended it. They really should focus some marketing more to the preggo women. :D

Wow, that's weird that somebody else recommended it too! Now I know I'm not alone. That should definitely be a selling point for them, since I'd never dream of eating Arby's any other time!

Hey girl! Hope you feel better soon! Just try to eat what you can to make you feel better. When I'm sick I know I eat a lot of crackers & dry toast. Just remember that the morning sickness won't last forever! (hopefully).

Get well soon! :)

Just make sure you're gaining adequate weight as time goes on...definitely best to go natural and avoid meds if at all possible. My last boss lost 30lbs the first 4mos of her pregnancy (she did not have excess to lose)...her doc tried her on phenergan and finally ended up w/zofran b/c she was sick the entire time. Not trying to be debbie downer by any means but if you consistently lose weight instead of gain, there are meds that can help. Phenergan's category C and Zofran is category B I think. We admit quite a few pregnant ladies at work for rehydration and hyperemesis gravidum (mmmm morning sickness) where I work for rehydration and I feel awful watching the try to keep everything stable just to get out of bed to pee :(

Congrats nevertheless and hopefully your nausea will run its course quickly!

keep food by your bed and eat something while lying down, wait a while then get up! Chicken noodle soup is good. Jolly rancher candies help. I carried a zip lock bag around to puke in when ever I went shopping or to the gym cause of the bad smells.

With London, I was sick for the first couple months until I figured out it was the prenatal vitamins making me nauseated. I switched and that helped but ended up w/terrible heartburn. I drank a lot of lemonade, ate grapefruits..sour citrus-y stuff worked well for me for the nausea. This one, I had heartburn so bad I layed on the bathroom floor almost every night waiting to either vomit or pass out. Citrus does not work so well for heartburn, makes it worse. It's hard to tell the difference, b/c bad heartburn can make you nauseated. Maalox/Mylanta taste like shit, but they also work for nausea, so you could try that. Or call the OB dept of the hospital.

When we were little mom used to open a can of pepsi and pour us a little in a glass put a dash of salt in it, then let it sit a minute so some of the fuzz is gone. Always worked. Weird.

I switched my prenatals to taking them at night and that helped the nausea a bit. I only wanted crackers, bread stuff like that for the first trimester. Whatever you can stand to eat, go with it. There were many days of "what will I eat ... nothing sounds good... I am so sick of food!" then I would force myself to eat something. Ah well, it won't last forever!

My sister who just had a baby was sick for the first 4-5 months of her pregnancy...she tried every trick in the book and nothing helped...they ended up putting her on some medication because that was the only thing that helped. You should talk to your doc just to be on the safe side.

I just started taking prenatal vitamins that were prescribed by my doctor, and I have to take them at night or I feel naueseous. Maybe you should try that?

Good lucK!!!!

(p.s. my family lives in CO, too - Castle Rock area - where are yoU?)

I had to start taking my prenatals at night months and months ago bc they were making me nauseated. So, I know now that this is all baby! :)

Fit- I am in Littleton, about 20 mins north of castle rock. I was just down there yesterday! Great area!

well you're over a week behind me and I've only had it for a week, so you may get it later. I have talked to lots of gals though that never got it and their babies are perfectly healthy. My ob-gyn has three kids and she only got sick with her last.

My morning sickness relief has been different for each baby. For baby#1, only PB&J sandwiches would do the trick(hence my gain of 50 lbs:crying::oops: ). For baby #2 only egg white omelettes w/ketchup could cut the nausea(only 30 lbs this time:lol3: ). For baby #3, NOTHING worked. I just hurled for several months. For baby#4, only cup o soup and things made with lemon, lime or pineapple would cut through the nausea.

I hope you're feeling better soon!!
