View Full Version : What can I drink?
...besides water? Seems like everything has caffeine or artificial sweetners in it. What kinds of tea CAN you drink? Is decaf green tea okay?

There are tons of herbal teas that naturally have no caf. I just drank water and the occasional glass of lemonade or OJ.

Is there a reason you are steering clear from caffiene?

'Cuz I'm scared of birth defects... :( and any other bad stuff caffiene can cause...

I know how you feel, it's probably no big deal but I'd rather not worry about it. It's only a few months.
I drank water, some pop like 7-up or Orange Slice sometimes, or Kool-Aid. And milk of course but not too much of it - didn't have the stomach for it.:yucky:

I'm with ya- so sick of just regular water. I have been drinking milk, oj, and an occasional non-diet gingerale to help with nausea.

I have recently read that some chemical in green tea blocks the absorption of folic acid. So, I'd be careful of drinking too much. If I find the research, I'll post it.

Honestly, I got so many answers on this question when I was prego is drove me crazy. (as was the same for nearly EVERY quesiton I had) This is how it ended up. Whatever my body tolerated well, I ate/drank/consumed. My baby got VERY active after too much sugar, so watered down juice it was. I was perfectly ok with milk, I even had a couple of sips of wine (I know, I know...sue me). During my entire pregnancy, I just listened to whatever my body was telling me.

I like carbonated drinks while prego(something about burping eased my nausea:oops: ) so I would take unflavored selzer water and add just a smidge of rasberry/cranberry juice, the 100% juice kind. Add a slice of lime and it was awesome!

mmm, that sounds good!
I drank white non diet soda, like sprite 7-up and ginger ale, when i didn't want water or milk or juice. The above sodas should pose no risk to the baby.

I've been reading that sucralose (Splenda) is safe during pregnancy... no problems found with it thus far.
And then, lo and behold.... I discovered that they now have Diet C Plus, Diet Orange Crush, and Diet Lipton Iced-Tea made with Splenda, instead of aspartame.
Now, please no one tell me you've found a study linking splenda with birth defects.... cause I've been drinking Diet C Plus a bit lately...... I was SOOOOOOO glad to have something other than water finallly.
