View Full Version : How often do you take EC??
Reading about some of the people that take EC I was thinking of getting some for those days when I'm dragging butt. I don't drink coffee or pop so I don't get my caffeine that way. Just wondering how often you take it, every day even if your not training, more than once a day??
I took Hydroxycut about 5 years ago when it had the ephedrine (whatever the stuff is they don't make it with anymore) and if I took more than one a day I couldn't sleep and even just taking one pill a day three times a week when I stopped I got headaches :(

I take EC in the AM and sometimes around lunchtime.

I was taking it almost every morning before I trained and then none on Sundays (off day), but I found I crashed really hard in the afternoon. That sucked! And I didn't want to start depending on it for energy all day long (i.e. taking E/C in the afternoon too), so I stopped taking it altogether.
I still have caffeine in the morning for a bit of energy, but no more E for me. :finger:

I normally drink coffee in the morning, then after lunch have more coffee with E..

If feeling tired, I take it before weight training.

I'll pop a caffiene pill in the morning if im dragging, and another around 3 or so if needed. i don't drink coffee or sodas so we're in the same boat.
I leave the E for contest time and weight loss
Thanks everybody sounds like it's pretty varied!

I take it in the morning pre-training and then again mid-morning before lunch. Anything after that and I am shaky wired all day and can't sleep.
But even more than the appetite suppressant, it is probabaly an even bigger mood booster for me. I am in a great mood, and I get so much more accomplished at work and am more focused. At the times where I've stopped it for a week or longer, I noticed the exact opposite.

As far as EC goes, yes I use it 2X a day. Early am and early to mid pm. I do notice however after 3 weeks the effects are not as strong or rather, I am not "feeling" the same effects. I was considering switching to a fat burner and taking it once in the am, with EC mid day and another fat burner late afternoon to switch it up. I realize this may be just plain wrong or even silly to consider, but any thoughts are appreciated.

The stimulant properties are not related to the 'thermogenic' properties. Whether you feel it or not is irrelevant in that context. There's even one study that says the thermogenic effects are magnified over time.

When dieting, I take it in the morning before I go to the gym (25mg E, 200 mg caffeine + 2 cups of coffee), especially for cardio because I just drag ass.
Right now, only once or twice a week if I am really in need of an energy boost.
I think I am becoming resistant to caffeine -- I drink 2-3 large cups of coffee in the morning, and then 4-5 Diet Cokes over the course of the day, plus EC when I need it...
I never considered using it more than once a day -- for those who do, do you find that your body stops responding to it at some point? Do you keep upping the dose, or cycle it?

I don't get the point of all this stuff. I drag ass too but once I start doing it my energy levels spike. I guess cardio is my EC stack:shrug:

Thanks Erik for helping me to clarify this. It just seemed odd to me that I was not getting the same feeling I was in the initial first two weeks. Also, as far as switching it up, I'll nix that idea..

Because why? What the heck do people expect from these products? Magic?
Their primary benefit is appetite suppression, energy, and a normalizing of SNS output (which falls with low calorie dieting).
No one can argue that ephedrine and caffeine does not do that. They're well studied compounds.

What's the difference? Basically all fat burners prior to the ephedrine ban were EC plus window dressing ingredients.
I don't know I've never been able to get an educated guess and stayed away because of my thyroid. I guess i was always told get an ec stack as it is cheaper and fatburners are a scam.
I don't know what she expected from them. Maybe layers of body fat just falling off don't know.

you can do that, or when your starting your diet and have everything in check, diet, cardio, training etc.
Basically IMO if you take them and you don't drop the fat something is wrong with your diet, and the pills ARE working but they are working to keep you from getting fatter instead of dropping the fat. if that makes sense.

The appetite suppressant side of E only lasts for so long.
I remember Erik posting about the longevity of E and fat loss..... mainly becuase I always have an argument at work with a guy who tells me that the effectiveness of E wears off after a couple weeks.
I have had good results with cycling a few weeks on, one to two weeks off, etc. as far as the appeitie suppressant goes.

If you don't cycle it, you'll definately lose the stimulatory effect from it. You'll also become dependant on it.

I know you lose the stimulatory effect over time...and I'm sure there is a measure of dependence since you have the caffeine in there...but is the ephedrine really addictive?
I know that when I have stopped it, as long as I keep the caffeine (where in coffee or in the tabs) I'm good. Not as frenzied energetic, but certainly not feeling like I NEED the ephedrine.
And tamlvscarl, I believe that the idea behind cycling EC is right in there with adding the aspirin to the EC stack and old body part splits (:shhh: )...outdated information.

Well I ran out of the E so I still take caffeine but I feel like I am much more hungry now. With the EC, I felt like I had more willpower not to eat when I wasn't suppose to or sumthing I wasn't suppose to. So r u saying u don't have to cycle it--just keep taking it and it will continue to be just as effective with appetite suppression and energy?
