View Full Version : HELP, muscle tightness!!
I went for a walk during lunch the last two days and both times the outer side of my lower leg has gotten really tight and starting to make me slow down to a crawl :( I've been trying to find an anatomy chart on the internet so I can say what muscle it is but everything I find is to small to read because they want you to buy it! Anyways looking for a stretch or something I can do, pulling up on my toes like I do when I get a calf cramp just seems to make it worse

Sounds like your peroneus

Do you have a foam roller? That's what I used to loosen mine up. You could use a tennis ball too, but if they are tight, that will hurt like hell.

THANKS!!! That is it, and they hurt badly even without the foam roller so I'm sure it can't get much worse  I don't have a foam roller right now but am thinking of getting one since I here they work so well.

Well I must admit yesterday I work slip ons so I thought that was it and wore my tennis shoes today and it still hurt, not until the end of my walk though where as yesterday it hurt about 1/3 of the way through

You could also try an unopened 2 liter bottle of soda. Basically, lay with your peroneus against the bottle on the floor, and move back and forth over it. YOu could hold your other leg ontop of the one your are working it apply more pressure. Since it's so tight, it will hurt.
Jeff you gotta stop saying it will hurt I'm really trying to psych myself up so I don't wimp out

I meant it will feel great! :)
Once they loosen up, you will be feeling much better.

Yes foam rolling is awesome! It hurts like a beeyatch when you are doing it but afterwards you feel oh so sweet :D
I  the foam roller. Best thing since full squats.

Cool story...
I'm working with a pro golfer, and he had really tight arches. He started rolling his calves and peroneals, and he went up a half a shoe size (feet flattened a bit). Pretty cool, huh?
So much for the size of the feet being indicative of other things....
