View Full Version : Water Weight and Refeeds

Ok - this might be a silly question and feel free to laugh at me if it is...
Does the amount of water weight gained (or not gained) after a refeed have any direct relationship on the effectiveness or lack of effectiveness of the refeed?
Reason I'm asking is this. It seems like everyone I talk to about refeeds complains about water weight gain. It seems to be the norm. I don't gain any water weight after a refeed. Measurements and weight stay exactly the same and generally within a day or two I'm down another 1/2 lb. So am I lucky or am I doing something wrong?:uhuh:
Weight should generally always go up after a refeed. Are you drinking enough water? Glycogen storage isn't very good without enough water.
If you're lucky, so am I. I tend to only put on 1-1.5 lb of water weight with a refeed and it's all gone by the second day.

Minimum liquid intake every day consists of 2L of weak decaf Green Tea and 3L of water or water/crystal light. Maybe a 1/2 L bottle (or 2) of decaff Diet Coke. On refeeds usually drink 1-2 cups of milk, a few glasses of juice or sports drinks.

That's the thing...No weight gain. Decided to track to see how much gain I had so I measure/weight in the morning of my refeed and the morning after. nothing changes - maybe 1/2 lb (max) and that's probably how I'm standing on my "super accurate" walmart scale...
side note - i have tape on my scale so my feet go in the same place every time.

You don't add any water with the refeed?
I add at least a liter above what I already drink, no milk or juices. But that's just me

Should I be adding more water? I'm at 5L already and in the bathroom every 30-45 mins right now. Do I need to up it even more?

Hmmm, I don't know. I don't usually add stuff to my water but drink over a gallon as is and add more for refeeds and then more the day after.

The only way I have found to ensure I get my water is to add stuff to it. It's a self-discipline issue - but it works.
