I've had morning sickness now for almost 2 weeks....I haven't gone to the gym at all in that time, nor have I hardly eaten anything clean... :finger:
I feel nauseated all the time, day & night, but still have a pretty decent appetite (that's because I'm even more sick when I'm NOT eating...so I'm pretty much eating all the time to make my stomach feel better).

It wouldn't be so bad if I could at least eat some decent clean food, but I can't stomach chicken, egg whites & oatmeal (my staples before becoming preggo) anymore. All I want and have been eating is mostly toast, watermelon & any kind of pasta. I hate eating this way & not being able to go to the gym. :sadcry: I feel like a big fat slobby lazy person!!!! :( My pants are slowly becoming too tight & it's becoming very depressing. I'm scared of gaining too much weight because of this, but I don't know what else to do. I was so mad at myself the other day, I forced myself to eat egg whites for breakfast....well let me tell you, I've never ran to the bathroom faster in my life :puke:

I'm gonna be HUGE if I have to continue to eat like this until I feel better. :crying: I try to tell myself that I'll just do what I can until the morning sickness goes away, then I can maybe start eating cleaner & getting back to the gym......but I'm getting more and more upset & depressed as the days go on. I'm not used to being fat....I don't like how this feels already! :(

...sorry for venting....

Yep, just do what you can. You can't convince your body to not want to barf with certain foods. You just try to find what you can to eat and go with the flow. The fact that you are paying attention to what you are eating helps. Hey, you aren't living on ho hos, ice cream and chocolate, right? There is nothing wrong with fruit, bread and pasta. I couldn't handle almost any protein when I was pg... I resorted to shakes for several months just to get that protein in (I would mix it with fruit and such to make them taste better).

You are doing great. Keep your head up!

This was me with my last pregnancy - I couldn't stomach much of anything - maybe crackers definitely NO protein - I made the mistake of trying to eat cottage cheese one day and the thought or sight of chicken was :yucky: . Then after that passed, I only felt like eating fast food. I eat fast food every now and then, but not as often as I wanted it then. That fast food phase didn't last long and in the second trimester, I could eat better and felt pretty good.

dare - Try to look forward to the second trimester - things are much better then and if you are eating pasta and fruit and toast right now, that isn't bad at all. I think you will find that during pregnancy you will want and your body (and baby) need more carbs. I am finding the same thing while breastfeeding. Also remember how much extra fluid your body is making for all sorts of things - this can make clothes feel tighter and does not necessarily mean you are getting 'fat' even if you feel like it :o

dare,

Let me tell you girl, you are doing GREAT compared to me!!! One of my first signe of pregnancy was nearly passing out at the gym. That was at about 6 weeks along, and let me tell you that I still have not seen the inside of a gym since. (my baby is now 6 weeks old!) My staple while prego: whopper, no cheese, no onion - even the thought of onion was enough to make me gag, plus mustard, cut in half. I am now back to my pre prego weight (though body comp is all off). Please, do not be so hard on yourself. It is very hard at first. When the second semester starts, and then towards the when you are very obviously pregnant and not just gaining weight, things go a lot smoother. Best of luck to you!

Remember, the best food for you is whatever doesn't make you sick. Puking up a clean meal is still no good. Know what I mean?

Edit to say: I was sick throughout the majority of my pregnancy, although the end was much better than the begining. Just hang in there!

We could be twins dare. I've barely had a healthy meal since morning sickness kicked in at 5 weeks. I had a few days where all I could eat was apples and toast, now I can't even look at them without vomiting. Yesterday it was instant oatmeal and pasta with sauce. I still can't drink plain water, I've only been able to drink juice and iced tea. And the one time I've been inside a gym, I nearly puked everywhere and had to lie down after 15 minutes. I've barely gone for a walk in 6 weeks. The only consolation I have is that even though I porked up 50 lb with bubby 1, I got the weight all off afterwards. Not much consolation really. :crying: :crying: :crying:

Yup

I felt the same way! I lived off crackers for a looong time. Fast food always sounded good and I didn't work out. I'm 16 weeks and I am only just starting to eat better foods because my body will let me. I also have more energy now.

It will pass!!! :console:

I think I ate nothing but bread for several weeks, and I did not gain a ton during the pregnancy. I would force myself to eat clean stuff, and get really nauseous, for at least 3 months straight. You can't predict what your body will crave.

just wanted to add that I too, cannot stomach much protein and yesterday I threw up for the first time. (I'm ten weeks along today!) I was driving in the car and had to throw up into a subway drink cup!!! I have not worked out since I started feeling sick at 6 weeks and I can't seem to even take a walk down to the park somedays because of the fatigue.

I have lost 6 lbs because of how little I can manage to eat, but I am sure that will pass when I start feeling better.

I just wanted to say hang in there and try not to obsess about your changing body. Pregnant women are beautiful, but in a different way from fitness models- you're just flat-out NOT going to look the same or to your usual "ideal".

hugs!
