Had a great session last night with my trainer. This morning my lower back is very sore - more so than anything else. "good" sore in other areas, btu I'm wondering if the lower back indicates I may be off in technique? or should I not worry about it & chalk it up to "day after soreness"?

right now my trainer does a full-body workout .... I have to admit to not knowing the names of everything  We use the machines - incline seated rows, leg extensions, chest press, shoulder press, chest fly, triceps, biceps, abs work, butt work, medicine ball toss .... I need to start recording in my own book, cuz i don't recall it all or the weights. We did increase the weight on the incline row, but everything else was static from last week. She has me do 1 set of between 9 - 15 reps depending on what we're working.
I wouldn't think your lower back should get sore with machines....

That's about what I thought Matt - so I'm doing something wrong .... frustrating when I'm working with a trainer.

except that weird lower back machine. The one where you have to slide in almost folded up and then you extend your back against the pad?
I used to do those back in the day when I worked with an in-the-gym-trainer. They used to make my back sore the next day.

i used to get severe lower back pain when my right erector spinae was more developed than my left, it would pull my spine out of alignment... it was bad pain to where it hurt to walk and it was hard to stand up from a sitting position. This was after every workout or any physical activity... once i balanced my erector development i didn't have any pain.

Talk to your trainer first and see what they say and then post here. I had an anterior tilt from pregnancy and my hip flexors were very tight and working on stretching them and restrengthing my core helped. I did lots of planks and such. It just depends on what is going on with you. It could be postural, a weakness, or poor form. I don't know. More details help.

How is your form. I lift very heavy on deads and if form is not on point low back can be in danger. Is it good sore or bad sore?

how did you figure it out Iron Will? and how did you balance it?
Jennie noticed it. You can tell by having someone feel you lower back and if one side is larger than the other. Mine was VERY noticable... She massaged it out when it was causing pain.. and stretching it helped too.
It balanced itself out when i started squatting without a belt and stiff legged dead lifts helped too as far as balancing out.
She can give better suggestions than i can though.

From ab work? I notice that if I don't hold my belly button in DURING ab work, my lower back engages and that will hurt later. Not good. Suck that belly button in before during and after.
