What exactly is scar tissue? Are some people more prone to it than others? Is there a way that I can prevent getting so much scar tissue? I see my massage therapist on Tuesday but I thought that maybe there would be some good advice on here - I am in a lot of pain right now in my shoulders and back from the scar tissue and would love to know a way that I can reduce the amount I am getting. Is something lacking in my diet. Anyway any input would be greatly appreciated?

How do you know it's scar tissue?

Are you recovering from some type of injury?

I see a massage therapist every two weeks and have for over a year. She told me that I have a lot of scar tissue built up around my shoulders, rotator cuffs, shoulder blades, and near the inside of my elbows if that makes sense. She has stripped it a couple of times quite intensely which is quite painful but I always feel better after. I can tell that I seem to be getting more of it again though. I have never had an injury in my shoulders so that is why I am wondering what causes it.

Odd

Go see a chiropractor who specializes in Active Release Techniques.

Okay thank you for the quick response - I already talked to my massage therapist about ART - she isn't certified to do that but knows someone about 45 minutes away that does - I will ask her for his name.
