:hi: New to HIIT and I have a love/hate relationship with it. I'm glad I can do it but it really kicks my butt and I seriously feel like throwing up sometimes. One thing I noticed is that I can get a nasty headache afterwards. Why is this?

are you drinking enough fluids? I know if I have not had much water, especially if its first thing in the morning I sometimes get a dehydration headache:headhurt:

Make sure you eat something before hand, I did it once without eating and I got a huge headache.

It can give you a bad headache at first until your body adjusts to it. I actually got a migraine or two when I first started doing it, but that went away after a week or so. Be patient and make sure you are eating/drinking properly.

Thank you all for your advice. :thumb: It all makes sense. I eat a little about an hour before HIIT. And, no, I don't drink any water before, so I'll try that. I actually got a migraine type headache my last HIIT. I had increased my intensity and upped the intensity of the rest periods (on the stairmaster) and felt dizzy afterwards. Thanks again!

Wierd about the headache, I actually developed a migraine the other day during my leg workout. No headache before, but halfway through a set of hack squats I got this pounding headache.
I didn't go away, and by the time I got home I had the blurry light spots, a symptom of a full blown migrane.
Headache actually lasted 3 days.
Wonder why? What about a hard workout causes a migraine?

There is a phenomenon known as "exercise-induced migraine" or "exercise-induced headache". Google it to read all kinds of info about it ...
