Does anybody take this? I've been having a hard time squeezing in enough veggies lately (I know, I know :bitch:). I always see it in the store and wonder if it's worth it.

And if you do use it, which one? Seems like there's a ton of different kinds

I do. Although I forget to take it daily. I should run down after posting and take a serving.

I use the green apple daily detox one.

Do you just chug it in water? or do you add it to your shake?

Green apple is good, well check that, tolerable. And the severity of it lessens with time.

I generally *feel* better when I'm consistent with it. Whatever that means.

I take a green powder daily. Sometimes it is Daily Detox, sometimes Earth's Promise. I also just chug it in water. Not tasty at all... but good for me.

I shop at the Charles River Plaza Whole Foods (on Cambridge Street) and I've seen it there. I know you're in Boston too, so you might want to stop in :)

I take the Michael Murry one...I think it's Greens Plus or something like that. I rememeber he said that his greens tasted good...like vanilla. I was so excited. Finally, I thought, one that tastes pleasant.

He must have been hallucinating or something, because there is NO vanilla taste in it...tastes "grassy" just like all the rest.

I agree with Thunder, though...don't ruin a shake or any other food with it. Just mix it with water, plug your nose (which I must do or else I'll gag), and chug it down. Right after that, I chase it with some Crystal Light to get rid of any taste.

I've been mixing the berry flavored Greens+ into all my shakes lately....it's actually quite good. I put frozen berries in it anyway, so it really doesnt change the taste that much.

I have those, too. I have a hard time convincing myself that they actually contain veggies, though... lol... so I hardly ever take them. However, when my kiddo doesn't eat his veggies I make him take one. Poor kid.

I take tea flavor daily detox and add a squeeze of lemon. I usually mix it with cold green tea but I don't mind it though I find the colder the water the better

I was taking http://www.healthforce.com/vitamineral_green.htm but confess it's been awhile.

What I did was mixed it with my protein shake (strawberry)...it turned it green but I don't recall "tasting" the green so that was good. I think I had gotten up to about 1 heaping teaspoon (I think the goal was 1 tablespoon) a day.

I was told that the above product was a bit more comprehensive that Green Magma

Don't know whether this is a good price or not, comparatively, but I buy the plain Greens+ powder (9.4 oz) here:

http://www.vitacost.com/GreensPlusGreens

I add three teaspoons to about 3 ounces of plain V8 juice, mix it thoroughly--and it tastes great. I take a few supps with it, while I'm at it. I may be weird, but with the V8, any "grassiness" goes away. 'Course, if you hate V8 juice, you're screwed!

My hubby and I used Veggie Greens for a while although admittedly a little inconsistently. I didn't notice any difference in the way I felt although it was being sold as it will give you an energy boost and a general better feeling of well being. Thunder said he felt better, anyone else notice any true positive effects? If so, which kind did you use? It's very expensive (stuff we bought was around $50 a tub) to not notice any benefits.

I generally feel better with it I think. Though I have only noticed it with Greens + - not anty of the other greens products. Also, I only notice it when I am concistently taking it. There is a lot of great research behind this product that is independant from the company - suprising in the industry.

I WAS about to go try it in V8 right now, til I realized I bought the berry kind. Good thing I remembered before I mixed them! :yucky:

I dont live in North america, so I dont care.

But then most fruits and veges here are months old, some of the 'fresh' apples from the markets are 6months old.

I love vegetables, just am having a hard time getting them in lately. I already carry a huge-ass cooler around campus with me all day, can't cram any more food into it!

I just feel like I fall short of eating as healthily as I'd like, some days.

I had a friend once in the Tomatoe business. He said if the tomatoe you buy is not attached to a vine at the store, it was GASSED to get the red color. i.e. it is picked GREEN. Tomatoe biz doesn't care about waiting for the tomatoe to ripen with all the vitamins to sell.

Um. If you grow your own tomatoes and pick them before they are totally ripe, you can put them in the window and they will turn red...with or without the vine attached.

I've heard that the longer they stay on the vine, the more nutrients they have. Not sure if that's true, though... it was in a marketing class (our project is related to greenhouses)

Ya, but attached to the vine (ie still on the plant) and attached to a dead piece of vine (like you find in the store) are two different things

:D

and it seems like some people seem to forget that greens+ doesnt actually contain vegetables to any great extent. >50% of a serve (8.9grams) are comprised of lecithin (not a vege), spirulina (not a vege) and High pectin apple fibre (not a vege)

:D

has anybody said that it actually REPLACES veggies?

I think people just take it as an alternative to not having any fruits/veggies at all....

I don't know, because I have never taken the stuff to begin with. Do you think this would work?

Do you think it's crap?

I have never tried it, but people tell me it tastes like grass, much like spirulina, but thats not surprising.

They make some big claims, but so do a lot of whacko food supplements. I particularly love the comparison of ORAC results by 100g of product between Greens+ and other food sources. Cos comparing 100grams of dried powder and 100g of fruit is a great comparison. Hows about a serving size comparison. 8.9grams of the stuff to a cup of xxx

semantics....you know what I meant.

people know it's not "as good" as eating real vegetables/fruits, but when no other options are available (or theyre too lazy), it's better than having nothing at all (assuming the product isn't a crock of shit in the first place). If eating some asparagus is a "10", then having a serving of Greens+ is a "4" type of thing.

Me personally, I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables....I just dump a serving of it in my shakes each day to make that a more "nutritious" meal, ideally.
