I'm four months pregnant and still haven't really trained at all for a few months. I'm sluggish but I know I should get off my butt and do something since I'm in the second trimester and the nausea has passed.

I don't want to do too much since it's been a while, and my body is probably working harder to make a baby. Should a just lift lighter weights? walk instead of run?

anyone want to give me a kick?:help:

Since it's been a while since you've done any training, start off easy to see how your body responds. Start with walking and take it easy with the weights since you haven't done them in a while. You have a hormone called relaxin in your body which is loosening up joints in preparation for delivering a baby. Start with lighter than ususal weights and see how it feels. If it feels OK, then go a little heavier.

As for motivation, just remember that exercising is good for you and the baby. You'll have more energy and feel better all around. Even your baby enjoys the endorphins when you work out!

sorry I am no help. I have been so tired and nauseated that I haven't worked out since I found out- 8 weeks. I want to start swimming or walking regulary when I feel better.

I've also lost 6lbs, so I am worried about losing more.

Just think how much easier your delivery and regaining your pre-preg body will be the more fit you are!

Go swimming. It feels nice to float around and it is more active than lying on the couch. I loved weights in the 2nd and 3rd trimester not the first at all. Just head to the gym give it a try, you'll feel great and that will be it's own reward.

I'm with ya ! I'm 12 weeks along and I haven't been to the gym since I've been pregnant. Yikes !

The nausea has finally stopped so I'm hoping to start next week.
