I need your stories, I know you're out there.

I am in the process of working with Erik, and want some inspiration and proof from other mothers that it is possible to get a fabulous body.

Please tell me your stats, your pre-pregnancy/during pregnancy and now weight. And time frame to reach that weight. (pictures would be nice)

I am 35, a mother of two boys ages 7 and 9.
Pre-pregnancy-125 lbs (25 yrs old first child)
during-165 (yikes)
now 135/138 (striving for 130 or less)

Well, hi! That's me! I have 4 kids, ages 3,6,8,9.

Pre-preggo weight 105ish gained 25-30 pounds with each pregnancy. Post preggo weight 103-113 depending on what stage I'm in. I lost all my preganancy weight, but my body has changed even more in the last year and a half...more muscle and less fat.

I'll play. Pics will have to come later, I don't have any on this computer at work.

I'm 33, with three kids ages 12, 10, and 3.

Pre-pg with the 1st I was around 125 (5'4") got up to 200 during pg (yikes!!!), got down to about 135 after that one.

Second time, got to about 175-180, lost that and hovered between 135-145 for several years.

Third time, got pg at about 145, gained 35 lbs, lost about 25 of that to end up at about 155 or so. Started working out and eating well when the baby was about 7 months, and lost 40 or so lbs. I've kept that off and continued to eat well and work out for almost 3 years now! It doesn't get any easier as I age, but it does become habit. My thirties are definitely the best so far.

You can do it!

I will be 30 in about two weeks, I have two kids ages 10, 5.
1st child: Age 20 I started at 120 and went to 160
2nd child: Age 25 I started at 130 and went to 165
Ended at 140 - then it took me 3 yrs to get back to 130 (I was sparatic with diet and exercise) I am 5'5.

I got the most god awful stretch marks and loose skin now!!! IT sucks but nothing you can do about it, I gained all of my weight in my stomach and thighs.
I definitely think it is possible to look good even after you have kids, it is your own motivation and determination that is the deciding factor.
I am working with T also and it is the first time in my life that I feel like it is making a significant difference. I finally discovered thru Erik that cardio is not the answer. It is a combination of weights/cardio/diet.

Hey Tracey!
I am 34 now. I was around 120 when I got pregnant, got to 180 with each pregnancy except the first only 150. I never really lost all of the weight in between until after my 6 year old when I dropped to about 135 doing only cardio. After my lil guy (16 months now)was born I started with the weights-I was about 160 when I started-140 when I started with Erik and I am at 125 now BUT I am totally shaped different. I am wearing smaller sizes than I was in high school!! You will love working with Erik he is incredible!!!

I have 3 kids, ages 8, 6 & 4. I was about 30 lb overweight with the first one and gained 60 lb. I weighed 244 lb when I delivered him. I lost all but 10 lb, the gained 40 lb with the second, and more with the third. I started seriously training and with my diet early this year and have lost almost 50 lb this year already. It's tough but it's now just a part of our every day. Here's a before and in progress pic from my journal:

My mom was/is a very unhappy person. She was married 4 times and made my life as well as my 2 sisters and 1 brothers life hell growing up. She was/is overweight and was always mad about something. I grew up vowing to never be like her, as a wife or mother.

Well, she 58 yrs old and suffered a stroke 2 yrs ago. She is still in a wheelchair and has limited communication. I live 2 provinces away but try my best to help out. As cruel as this sounds somehow I can't help to think what goes around comes around. Over the years I have come to forgive my mom for alot of things and even appreciate what it must have been like raising 4 kids and being single. But still, we were verbally, mentally and emotionally abused growing up, and she was never happy in any of her 4 marriages. (All of us kids are from the same father, her first)

I do think though that she has made me the better woman, wife and mother that I am today. I take pride for being healthy, a good wife (in a happy marriage to my husband of 15 yrs, he took me away from it all when were in our late teens. He had enough of the abuse and convinced me to move away and we started a life together)

I am proud of who I am, and what I still have yet to become.

All you fit mommies REJOICE!!

I've been working with Eric for about two - three months now.

I'm 42. Two kids, ages 11 and almost 6 (in a couple days :))

Majority of my life my weight ranges from 105-113.
Gained 50 lbs with first pregnancy.
Didn't lost much until 6 months PP. Ran a lot but didn't weightlift. Eventually got back down to 105. I was 31 when I had DD.

Was 35 when I had DS. Gained about 30 lbs with him. Breasfeed him much longer so my weight stayed on. Didn't do any exercise during this time or really watch my calories. Started exercising when he was around 9 months. Eventually got back down to 110.

Put on about 10 lbs about a year and a half ago. Lost about 5 on my own.

Was about 115 when I started with Thunder. I'm 112 now, but I have much more muscle than I ever did (not a lot compared to these other ladies, but it's the most I've ever had).

Plan to compete around February. Have to see Eric's opinion on that. Still have to lose more fat. Not sure how much...probably 5-7 lbs.

Oh, I'm 5'2".

I have a few co-workers and family that think I am a bit of a freak for signing up with someone that I will never see in person (maybe some day I will meet him, you never know) So I want to prove everyone wrong as well as look like all of you.

Yes, but first I have to get them to EriK, since I haven't yet (I'm always so late on everything). Just feel I should get them to him first.

But yes, then I'll post. It's nothing dramatic, though (the only ones I have on my digital are from right when I started working with Erik, and I was only 3 lbs. heavier then than I am now). Now if I had digitals of right after my first child was born, that would be something more to see.

Why 30-somethings?

:(

(ETA: I'll play anyway -- one kiddie, 2.5 yr old daughter -- prepreg was about 150 lbs, had lifted previously but never really had any goals so I did not have what I would call an impressive physique... gained like 65 lbs during my pregnancy, which was not a pretty sight -- I'm 5'2" and that's 215 lbs lol. Down to about 155 now from there, and around 25%-ish bf down from 40%+ which was also quite... distasteful lol. Still a work in progress.)

I remember when I was pregnant with my first, I went in to a fabric store to buy some material to make my own maternity pants. The two ladies that worked there started talking to me about being pregnant and how I should get used to the weight gain because I would never fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans again. I looked at them and said I vow I will. They both laughed at me as I left the store.

I moved away shortly after my son was born but I wish those two overweight biddies could see me now and also see all the pictures of the other fit mommies on this site!!

I don't understand where the idea you can't be comes from in the first place.

You can be in shape at any age and you can be out of shape at any age. Just as you can be in shape if you've had kids and you can be out of shape if you haven't.

One look at all the young, childless girls walking around with flab hanging out of their low-rise pants should tell you that.

That's just an excuse people like to use...it obviously isn't true. I do agree that it does mean that you've endured at least one instance of your body gaining some fat and getting all out of whack, though. Pregnancy pretty much gaurantees that.

People let their minds get in the way of things sometimes.

Hi Tracey -

I'm new here, haven't started working with Erik yet but I'm 32, I just had my 3rd child less than 6 months ago and I've lost over 50 lbs and ran a half marathon.

Granted, I still have a long way to go but I think being here puts me on the right track.

I have pictures of me 3 weeks after giving birth (in a bikini no less - what was I thinking????) and compared to now, huge difference. I'm not sure what the rule is on posting when you're working with Erik. I thought I read somewhere I need to make sure he's seen everything first.

I hope in another 12 weeks I'll really have soemthing to be proud of!

I hope in another 12 weeks I'll really have soemthing to be proud of!

jc
I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. I am in the process of getting started with Erik, I'm really hoping it will be this week (unfortunatly I leave for a conference to Las Vegas on Friday for 5 days, so now the timing is a bit off, oh well!)

What an inspiration you are to all!! My youngest is 6 (almost 7) and I desperatly want to have the body of a competitor. I have lost most of my weight but now just have a new goal. A few people have criticized me and said and what after that, but hey if you quit aspiring to new things and quit dreaming and setting goals then in my opinion it's just not worth going on!

Well, hi!

There are more in my siggy. You can do it...for sure!!!

There are LOTS of fit mommies on here for inspiration!!!

OHMYGOODNESS you look incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, maybe there is hope for me after all! I am 36 with two children, ages 13 and 6. I've made huge changes over the last two years but still have a way to go. I am optimistic now though!

i'm 36 and have 4 kids, 13 yr old dd, 10 yr old ds, 6 yr old dd and almost 4 yr old ds. i am 5'3" and about 112 lbs. i gained 30lbs with my first, about 40lbs with my second and third and probably about 50 lbs with my fourth pregnancy. i did lose weight very easily after my pregnancies and was actually too thin afterwards (105 lbs) and worked hard to put on weight in the last couple of years (truly - it can be harder to gain weight than people think). i carry alot more muscle now at 36 than when i first started having my babies.

you can do it for sure!
(no pics cuz we just moved to an acreage and i'm back on dial-up)

We should start a search for the fittest mom with the most kids!!!

She's not an EP girl, but I've always found Francisca Dennis to be a huge inspiration to me... and an awesome example to use whenever I hear a woman say "this is what happens to your body after you have kids... it's natural". Bullcrap.
She has six kids.... most I've found yet.

Before my interest in fitness, I thought it was near impossible for a mom to have a lean, ripped body. I thought that it was something only a few "special" people could attain, like celebs or what not . One day I started reading a few fitness boards and I came accross www.buffmother.com and I was in complete awe of what she accomplished with drive and dedication. Through these fitness boards (especially EP) I've also learned that there are many other women who are dedicated to this lifestyle can and do achieve the "impossible", it's just a matter of how bad they want it, and how hard they are willing to work.

That being said, I wonder why that "mom's can never get their figure back" myth is still being perpetuated. I guess for me it was that I never really knew of anyone that lived a healthy lifestyle. I don't know one person that is into eating right or working out on a regular basis as a way of life, which is kind of sad .

Which is why I love EP, it gets me connected to other people who "get it".

It's perpetuated because people need some way to justify their unhealthy behavior. I just recently got my husband to stop responding to my "fat" complaints with "At least you have an excuse!"

I told him the "I had a baby" excuse runs out after a couple of years :D.

Also, remember -- most people don't ever have their figures in the first place -- so getting it "back" is of little concern ;).

That being said, I wonder why that "mom's can never get their figure back" myth is still being perpetuated.

It gets perpetuated because of the ratio. Sure, we surround ourselves with fit people on EP and other boards, so it seems like there's alot of fit moms. But if you take it in context with the general population? There are WAY more obese/overweight women/moms out there. Majority rules, remember? The perception is that since most people are fat, therefore fat must somehow be natural. That's how it gets perpetuated.

The small percentage that DO something about it are seen as somehow 'special' - not ordinary. Like genetic freaks, not people who have worked really hard to achieve their goals.

I agree with this. I couldn't imagine being that busy and still achieving a body like that. I know it's all about priorities, but I have so much respect for all the mothers that can pull this off.

I think this is key..."on a regular basis."

Also, I don't think many women know that simply "eating healthy" won't give them a bod like Leah, Buff Mom, that Francisca chick, etc. Same with lifting heavy. Honestly, at my gym, there are two women who use the squat cage -- me and one other high school/college athlete who comes in her off-season. That's it. And I go to a huge gym.

I also hear all.the.time on some general parenting boards I frequent phrases like "well, sure I'd look like that if I had ________________ (a trainer, plastic surgery, someone to make my meals, etc." This always happens when someone posts a pix of a hot celebrity (and it's usually just a slim celebrity, no one with any amount of decent muscle). Then all the other moms chime in with one of those phrases. I just simply sigh when I read those comments.

One time I posted a link from here about HIIT when someone was griping about losing that last 10 lbs. The response was "well, that's too long to read."

The first set of pics looks suspicious to me. She doesn't look like she weighs 183 lbs. in the before pic. And it looks like she's just standing straighter and flexing her legs in the after pic.

Plus, she's bigger in the pic dated December 2003 than she is in the before pic. It looks like she weighs 183 lbs. in the pic taken in 12/03.

Hi there, I have been a lurker here for a bit but haven't posted. My name is J'nea, the chick with the two sets of twins IT is true that the first pic of me I was not 183. That was an error by bb.com. I was 150lbs in the black bra pic. The one of me holding the babies I was 183, and that was 3 years ago. There is a 6 mos diference between the first two pics. I did have some muscle in the first pic, I was flexing but had way to much fat to see any definition.

Hey! I'm not nearly as little as you, but I still managed to loose it all, plus some. I was about 155 pre-pregnancy, and during pregnancy got up to 230 lbs. Post pregnancy, I had trouble getting below 185. I'm now down to 150 again, and hopefully heading to 145 by the end of the year. I'm in the best shape of my life, and getting ready to turn 32 with two kids.

I don't have any pics (I'm not nearly as buff as most the folks here), but I'm really pleased with my results. When I got really serious, it only took about 8 weeks to drop 35 lbs. You just have to stick to it - even when it is total misery. I always look at my screaming kids and think "Hell, anything is easier than sitting at home and listening to them" - it motivates me to go the extra mile.
