"i have to disagree with you on one thing. the training. it DOES make a difference. you can train like a powerlifter and get a 'blocky' look, you can train like a BB and get an X-shape, or you can overtrain like a figure and keep the muslces smallers."

I think that's the thing...if a figure girl eats the standard PL diet, she won't look like a figure girl, not even a little bit. She'll look like she eats doughnuts...which of course can be fixed with diet, but that'll still be the result. If a PL eats like a bodybuilder, largely the bodybuilder look will be more apparent...for the most part, if PL'ers went on diets, they'd look like bodybuilders, the muscle is there, if sometimes present in overly developed obliques for added stability. And figure girls have to eat less to be smaller than the heavyweight bodybuilders, and then not diet as long pre-comp so they're not striated.

I have never seen any over developed obliques. I have seen people who are naturally thick waisted like me. No amount of trainings gonna alter shit for me.
I have seen big bloated budda bellies on the heavier PLrs, but thats cos they are in general fat bastards. Little guys look more like bbrs than anything.

Have you ever been to a meet? There are lots of big guys there...and a fair portion of big girls. Not everyone, but really...aside from a select few, we're bigger than physique athletes, and much more comfortable with losing sight of our abs.

Because most powerlifters will gain weight to get bigger lifts, and we don't particularly care if it is fat as long as your lifts increase.

Here is something something to wank over:
Given that once you're past certain point in terms of bodyfat, partitioning goes to teh shitter. Thus the caloric excess will go more towards bodyfat, and less towards muscle. Many powerlifters who use the GFH approach seem to surpass this point. Would it not be better for powerlifters to diet down every now and then to improve their partitioning thus allowing them to gain more muscle than fat? Obviously, in teh real world, GFH works fine for many... Please excuse me, I'm just mentally masturbating...

If one gets to a point where additional bodyweight does nothing for any lift, then yes...I was at that point, dropped a little weight. Because of my relatively high bf, it dropped quickly and easily. But an actual cut, to get lean, where partitioning would be optimised? Hell no, you couldn't pay me for that.

Oh no. I'm not talking ghey lean or anything. I was thinking maybe 12-15% as the low end for men and ~20% as the low end for women...

I probably stopped a little higher than that, hard to know for sure, but yeah, I could deal with that.
