I don't believe there is an article...you need to buy the book.

To do the diet, you MUST buy the book. I would definitely not recommend doing it without. However.... if you just want some information to see if it's something you want to try, go to the bodyrecomposition site, click on the Forums link, register, lurk and read. There's a PSMF sub-forum with basically every important (and not) question asked and answered, and some really good STICKEYS on it, too. :p

Oh, and for the record, it's other name is Protein Strictly Mother Fucker, Protein, fish oil, green veggies, and that is it.

And it works.

Surely you did not just suggest reading sticky's

I'd emphasize the "lurk" part. Old Man McDonald doesn't take kindly to redundant questions.

If they thought you and Leah were "mean", then the site would instantly shut down as the heads of everyone reading it exploded.

LOL!

Yes, emphasis on LURK before you POST.

Leah, of COURSE I'm mean. I though that was an Extreme Physique joining requirement. Sure I read it somewhere in the Terms.....

I have, and had good results with it.

However, I was also juiced up on testosterone, T3, and bromocriptine, and consequently was able to keep up a pretty crazy training volume on the 800 calories a day I was getting.*

*In other words, results are not typical.

I've done 2 different cycles of PSMF. The first time, I tried to "do my own thing", meaning, I figured hey, I can have some milk with my coffee, etc., as long as my calories aren't too high. I also let free meals become excuses for free-for-all-meals. I didn't lose much weight/fat--more like kept losing and regaining the same few pounds.

The second time, I did it BY THE BOOK (what a concept), and lost fat very well, and managed to maintain my lifts. Then I got pregnant.

I intend to use PSMF again, somewhere waaay on down the line, when I'm done nursing, because I don't have the patience for more moderate dieting.

Aaaaaaaaand for the record, my metabolism is just fine, and I didn't have any rebound weight gain when I went off PSMF to normal eating (read: no crap fest feasting).

How the heck can ya'll just not be hungry. I have a tough time doing 1100 calories more than one day in a row

It is a challenge. But by running either the bromo, EC or clen, or in some cases when I just felt silly, both, it's easy to drug yourself out into an oblivion where hunger no longer exists.

I did a PSMF run 6 weeks ago and had fantastic results. I lost 9.2 lbs in two weeks. Obviously a LOT of that was water weight, though. But, the B&A pics were pretty dramatic.

I just started another PSMF run 4 days ago. I had no trouble keeping the weight off after I ended the first PSMF, even after resuming normal eating levels. However I went buck-ass crazy the past 2 weeks with my eating (and no training :uuhh:) hence the current PSMF.
(Plus, I'm going on a trip to Europe next week and I wanna look gooooood )

I'm actually debating whether I'm gonna continue this PSMF the whole time or not. I really just wanted to drop some of the major bloat and break the carb addiction cycle.
So far, I've lost 8.4 lbs in 3 days.

Oh, and yeah, I'm really hungry this time around. But, usually the hunger starts to abate after the first 5-7 days (esp. if you're using EC) and you can practically almost forget to eat b/c your appetite plummets.

Ketosis totally kills my appetite. Plus, you know, "Embrace the Hunger", :p

I didn't take EC or anything like that.

How long does the book recommend you stay on it? If it varies, can you give me a range?

CraveMuscle
05-10-2006, 07:23 PM
I think it depends on how lean you are and gives a general idea based on bodyfat. Isn't 2 weeks the general length for lean people?

Probably 11-12 days followed by a 2-3 day refeed.

CraveMuscle

yeah, that's it. thanks.

I've never done it, so I wouldn't know.

Dane

There're 3 categories--
Cat 1 are the lean people, and it's the short range Thunder mentioned.
Cat 3 are the really fat people, +35%BF, I believe. They can stay on it for really long periods of time--months--as long as they take the appropriate diet breaks as specified in the book.

Cat 2 people are inbetween, and usually stay on it for 2 to 6 weeks.

The design of the diet is basically crash diet for for 3 or 4 days, then either a free meal or a refeed, then 3 or 4 more days of dieting. It's not straight 600 calories/day for 4 weeks (it's heartless, but not THAT heartless, lol).

Is this basically Atkins with lower calories? Are you allowed no carbs at all?

No, its more complicated. Protein and EFAs, generally.

It's not complicated actually

As you just said, protein and EFAs, and that's it. (outside of vegetables)

Agreed, BUT, people need to read the book before doing the diet. I think saying it's "not complicated" could lead people to try the diet without all the info. No one should be doing the diet without reading the book first, no matter how simple the diet seems.

I want to drop about 5-10 lbs in the next 3 weeks, but just spent two weeks at maintenance to repair my metabolism after about 6 years of continuous dieting. Would PSMF be more likely cause damage to my metabolism due to my recent dieting history or can I assume I'm starting with a relatively healthy metabolism and strictly follow the guidelines of PSMF to minimize renewed damage to my metabolism?

Why would you, in your case, jump into a crash diet?

Thanks, Thunder, that was what I needed to hear!

I had a moment of panic today when I realized I would not be able to lose 5-10 lbs in 3 weeks to fit into a dress I want to wear to a friend's wedding. My priorities are now straight again.

Okay I think I'm going to buy the book just to figure out what the diet is exactly about. Does anyone know of anywhere I can get it in Canada? Is the only way to buy the book online?
