Hi all,

I haven't been here in a while. I reformatted my computer and lost all my bookmarks!

I have been really slacking lately in my workout routine. I have horrible bunion pain and it hurts to be on my feet at all. I am having surgery on Friday to fix the left one (the one that hurts the most.) I am going to be out of commission for at least 6 weeks, then I am having surgery on the other foot. So, there goes another 6-8 weeks.

What are some ways I can keep fit while recovering? I thought I could do upper body strength training, back, and abs. I also recently started doing yoga, since it doesn't require me to wear shoes (shoes = terrible pain lately :( ) Any other ideas?

I can't get my foot wet for 2 weeks until my stitches are removed. I thought about swimming laps at the gym. Does anyone know of a website that sells swimwear that I can mix and match tops and bottoms? I need a 12 on top and a 6 on bottom. One pieces are out of the question since I have a super long torso.

Looking more long-term, my Dr. says that once I am fully recovered from both surgeries, I will be able to start running again. :) I quit running almost 2 years ago because of the pain. I can't wait to have my life back!

You can still do leg extensions and leg curls for your legs

I hope your surgeries go well.

I am not sure if they will have the different size thing but they accomodate all kinds of other stuff, so why not that. Plus, the prices are good. I got some gear from there and it was a good experience

Thanks! I just ordered a suit. I found exactly what I was looking for.

I am so nervous about getting even more flabby. It sucks to be going through this right now when I know my body is capable of being so much more in shape. I think what I am going to do is put together a "recovery" training program and go over it with my Dr. He has basically said that I am to be off my foot for 6 weeks, but he knows that I can't do that. I'll go insane!

My surgery is finished. It wasn't as painful as I thought, although my foot is still numb from the anesthetic. Dr. says tomorrow will be the worst day. I am excited to be on the road to recovery. My swim suit was shipped yesterday, so as soon as I get my stitches out I'll hit the pool. Until then, I am going to do upper body and some stretching. I really hate the way painkillers make me so loopy!
