I'd do some other rep schemes along w/ it on other days.

as apposed to 5X5? How long do you rest between sets? Curious, because this is what i am starting today.

Depends.
OK, then. I am eating below maintenence and doing a 4 day split between upper and lower and doing a 5x5 rep scheme. How long should a rest period be between sets or do you need more?

I didn't know 3x8 was set to any specific rest time?
The reason I said, "depends," is because there are a lot of movements 3x8 works really well for, and there are just as many movements 3x8 would be silly for.
I'm not commenting on the rest periods; I have yet to time rest periods.

I think that there's, ah, a basic disconnect on this thread. I.e., some are training for strength, and some are training for bodycomp.
Might want to clearly state goals before asking for advice.

I have come to the conclusion that when I get bored during my rest periods then I know I am not lifting heavy enough. When I am, the rest periods do not seem long enough.
