let me start by saying I am not freaked out, so I hope no one misunderstands my post and just tells me to calm down... I am pretty calm. I am wondering though... I have started feeling little baby move in the past week, usually just at night or when I am lying still. All day today though I have not really felt her much and I have been laying on the couch a fair bit since we're pretty much snowed in again here in Denver.
the only things I have done different today are that I went snow-shoeing for about 30 mins this morning and drank a diet mountain dew (not a usual occurence AT ALL, I was just thirsty and there was nothing else really around at my friend's house)...
I rested a lot during the snow-shoe and didn't let my heart rate get up too high...
any other moms notice this early in the "quickening" stage? I know it can be cause for concern later on if baby stops moving... but it's so early in the stage where movement can be detected, I don't know if I should really be concerned at all... I'm only 21 weeks.

A lot of the movement you feel this early on is based on the position of the baby. Depending on the direction those little arms and legs are facing you could feel lots of movement or very few movements. I remember getting panicky at times when I hadn't felt the baby in a while. Once you get further along, you can do kick counts. But in the meantime, maybe you could rent a Baby Beat(portable doppler) so that those times that you do get concerned about a lack of motion, you could at least be reassured by the sound of your baby's heartbeat.

I used to have that little wiggly worry in the back of my mind too - the doc reassured me that when I'm more active, it lulls the baby to sleep. That's why when I would lay down to sleep or watch tv that would be when the baby would start dancin'. That and homeschoolmom's explanation makes a lot of sense too. Just make note of when you do notice movement - I bet it's more than you remember. I bet your little one is just getting an early start on having fun with momma!

I had an anterior placenta that muffled most of my babies movements until I was about 26 weeks. Did they mention placenta position at the ultrasound?

yeah, my placenta is on the front wall as well, which they said might "muffle" movements... the original worry though was that she wasn't really making any movements at all when I was laying down yesterday and she had been in all the days before. No biggie now- she moved a bunch late last night so I stopped worrying. :)

Glad to hear she's moving again! And yeah, you're still early where you won't feel consistent movement. I only just started to feel movement with my first at that time.
I'm only 16 weeks and have been feeling movement already (but it is my second), and even though I know I won't feel movement everyday, I still freak out when I don't feel anything for a few days. It's crazy! And actually, I have a cute little story about that. For those of you who pray, you'll appreciate this...
I hadn't felt the baby move for a few days this past week, so during my prayer time, I asked the Lord to just let me feel something to ease my mind. Well after prayer, I hit the sack, and as I was lying in bed, the baby started going nuts! Rolling, flipping, kicking, turning... There was actually so much movement that I had to ask the Lord to please let it stop so I could get some sleep! Ha! That just made me laugh. :)
