Which ones and who do you think has the best diet and nutritional advice? Berardi, lyle, alwyn, etc.anybody else you recommend ........As far as books they have out there. I want to educate myself more. I tend to focus on training literature more than dietary so I am forcing myself to read more on the dietary.

I tend to favor Lyle's advice, as it's generally grounded in both science and common sense. He and Alwyn are pretty much on the same page, though they do have differences in implementation.

Berardi can say good things but he's too hit or miss for my tastes.

Thanks. Do you have any particular books of theirs you would recommend first to look at?

I really don't think there are too many great nutritional resources out there. Some great training ones, but nutrition, not so much. Mind you, training science is also a far more exhaustive topic and nutrition isn't rocket surgery.

Lyle's books are good and even though JB gets slagged a lot, he has some really good stuff too. Regardless of what people say, he gets results.

Alwyn doesn't write too much on nutrition; I see him more as a training guy.

There's going to be a, (I hope) a really good resource coming out later this year that includes people like (I don't know who is confirmed; this is just a partial, proposed list) Alwyn Cosgrove, John Berardi, John Parillo, Craig Ballentyne, Eric Serrano, Mauro Dipasquale, Lonnie Lowery, Rob Faigen, this Erik Ledin guy :D and some others.

It's going to be similar to what Ryan Lee did with his Speed Development package.

Thanks. I just wanted to obtain a little more knowledge on the nutrition side. Let us know the progress on the new resource that is coming out with all those great names( Even that Erik guy:lol3: )because I am sure there are lots of us here who would love to read it.

I know that there are a lot of diet books out there, but I am kind of looking more for something that explains the science or why behind things. Maybe we need a Practical Programming for nutrition.:lol3:

I have a plan in the works here too. :D Although calling it the nutritional version of Practical Programming would be a stretch probably.

It'll be good when it's all said and done though. It'll hit science on the one side and the practical/implementation side on the other.

Cant wait for that to come out...I think your clients should all get signed copies

Donna- I have read ALOT of info on nutritional stuff, and even got my certification this past fall. All I want to add is that no matter who or what you find to read there will always be someone else out there saying something different so as you read keep an open mind. What I do when I am finding information is I actually come to these types of boards to see how people fair following particular eating regimines. There is nothing like personal experience IMO, which is exactly why I went with Erik..he has done wonders for people and I know he can/will do the same for me

The books I'd recommend are
- Protein Power Life Plan from the Eades to get me started in low-carbing & explain the hows and whys) (and perhaps even Atkins' books)
- The Ketogenic Diet (Lyle's) , the nitty gritty details on the hows & whys
- Flexible Diet (Lyle's) on how to set up a flexible diet
- Natural Hormone Enhancement of Faigin , puts too much emphasis on GH but the idea to carb load at night was excellent..
- carb cycling articles

But actually the diet that works best now was loosely based on a blog article by Michael Eades on Intermittent Fasting. I'm not even doing that but a low /high cal version of it. And it works awesome! Easiest diet I ever did sofar.
