All right...I have a friend, (yes, this is true), who has alot of problems lately with hemorroids. She wanted me to ask advise from you people on the board. Yes, again, this 'friend' is not me for I already tackled this issue years ago by having surgery but my friends problem is a little different. She eats very clean 99 percent of the time. She goes to the bathroom regularly, maybe a little too regularly. Well, lately it's been pretty loose (I know this is gross but:shrug: ), and frequent. I told her to keep track of her fiber intake to make sure it was getting her regulated one way or another. She's changed her diet here and there to see if something she was eating was causing this and she can't figure it out. She has had parasites before but she knows how to take care of that issue also. She works with horses everyday so there is a regimen that she does to keep this in check as far as the parasites are concerned. The parasites made her more sick to her stomach then coming out the other end:yucky: ..Anyhow, she's tried every cream, gel, aloe vera, etc. Does anyone else have any problems like this or is it inevitable that she go see the doc??

I suggest that she goes back to the doctors'. Expecially if she already changed up her diet to see if it affected it. I hope it gets better for her, hemorroids are NOT fun! :(

if she's trying to "bulk up" her stools, have her try the BRAT diet- Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast- I jujst read about that last night in a parenting book about how to help a baby with diarhhea. Maybe that would help her too?

As for the actual hemmrhoids... never had them, don't know. Sorry!

I don't know if her hemorroids are from her going so much and just irritating her or from her diet. Will tell her about B.R.A.T. She also has checked her acidity level in her system and it isn't too awful bad.

Has she tried an ointment with hydrocortisone in it?

Has she tried an ointment with hydrocortisone in it?

I think so...I'll find out. She won't be home till after 9 tonight. I'll ask her then.

Unfortunately I have had this problem...even had the surgery, but still have these suckers. The loose stools will definitely aggravate the hemorrhoids if she's going more than once per day. Something she can do at night, for some relief, is to soak a cottonball (or two) in witch hazel and kinda stick it up there. I know it's gross, but it helps so much. Also, the suppositories are helpful at night b/c they relieve the pressure. A good way to bulk up her stool is to eat more insoluble fiber (i.e. Fiber One, or Psyllium Fiber) INSTEAD of all the other fiber, until she gets things a bit more comfortable. She may be eating too much oil or fat, thus causing the loose stools.

I really hope this helps. PM me if she has any other questions.

A soak in a warm bath with Epsom salts will help with the inflammation/pain. This has always worked for me in the past. Creams/ointments never seem to help me. Just run some warm water in the tub and add about a cup of Epsom salts. You only need enough water in the tub to reach "the area" ;)

Right. Thanks for posting that link, Karen. After reading that, hemorrhoids are now very high on my list of conditions to try and avoid.

insoluble fiber (i.e. Fiber One, or Psyllium Fiber)

I believe Psyllium (and most fiber supplements, Benefiber, etc.) are soluble fiber.

Psyllium is soluble fiber. Most supplements are.

you want insoluble. Wheat bran, etc.
