I've heard people think they had their period - so who knows? The female body is really mysterious sometimes.
Well I guess I am wanting to know b/c some people say that they have been a couple months pregnant before they even knew it! ....so did they still get their periods then? How can you not know you're pregant? Or is it like you said Theresak, that they just think that they have their period?...

Some women can have regular spotting throughout their pregnancy. Although out of those that do, most will be light enough that they wouldn't consider it a 'period', there will be a rare few that spot heavy enough that they think it is a period. And that's when some women find out they are pregnant when their belly starts growing.
The gestational spotting is caused by the fact that there are sex hormones produced in the brain, not just in the ovaries. If a woman is overly responsive to small amounts, then the miniscule amount of hormones the brain releases will be enough to trigger some spotting on a monthly basis.
Hope this helps.

I think maybe some of those people are the ones who have an irregular cycle or that they just don't keep track of when they get their periods so they don't know how long it's been.

A woman I know had a daughter who was pregnant, but still ovulated the next month for some reason. Well, she ended up pregnant again and the babies were 1 month apart in age. Because she could only deliver once, the first baby was 2 weeks late and the second baby was 2 weeks early. I never heard why they think she still ovulated after she was pregnant with the first.
I've also heard of girls that didn't know they were pregnant until their belly started popping out around 5 or 6 months because they had been having a period every month.

A lot of times what a woman may *think* is her period that first month, is really implantation bleeding. Some women spot when the embryo attaches to the uterine wall.
