...do you stop eating for the day if your w/o is done. I w/o in the mornings and often my cals get used up before the day does. At that point should I squeeze in an extra meal or call it a day? I know that ideally my cals would be spread out more evenly, but it does happen occassionally. Any suggestions?

You should plan better.

What about if you stay up late. Do you need more food?

I would add in another meal, personally. If it were around 7 or 8, that would be okay for me...but if it were at 5, I would be stahving.

That goes beyond bad planning IMO....that is just a complete lack of planning  Bad planning is staying up later than expected like sportgirl said. Using up all your calories at 5 pm is just haphazard eating, there's absolutely no reason for this except not paying attention to what you're doing earlier in the day.

I have a similar question as the original poster
I've heard/read that you don't need to include viberous green veggies when figuring out daily totals. my questions is: what if you eat a lot or these green veggies? I can eat 2 cans a green beans on a low carb day plus my broccoli, cucumbers, spinach and romaine...should I still be counting these cals?-it totals usually 200 extra cals

You can count them if you want.

i count everything i eat, period. If you eat, for example, a ton, and I mean a ton of broccoli, IMO, it doesn't become "neglible" calories anymore. You can eat quite a bit more celery than broccoli, for example. You should count them.

You said no to eating more because of staying up late...well what about if you are up for 24 hours...I occasionally work 3rd shift...

You would literally have to eat a ton of it. Plugging the numbers through fitday, I checked how much 10 cups of broccoli would come to. Subtracting out the dietary fiber carbs, you have about 140 cals. I don't personally know anyone that eats that much broccoli.

You'd subtract half the fiber, not all of it ... technically.
And 10 cups isn't even 2 cups/meal.

Well, I don't know about you, but broccoli for breakfast and pwo doesn't sit right for me. Assuming you're counting pwo as one of the meals. LOL I still say that's a lot of broccoli. I don't think I eat more than a cup with any meal.

I'll second the motion that it is bad planning. However, that being said, I do find myself in this position daily, although it's a bit different. I plan everything out so that I have 5 meals/day, approx 3 hrs apart. This makes my last meal at 8:30 pm. I don't go to bed until 11 or 12 each night. Well, those last few hours are killers for me. I'm hungry, I have to beat myself up to avoid snacking more, but more often than not, I'll end up grabbing some peanuts or pecan as a late night snack.
Even though I'm planning it all out, this has become enough of a problem that I'm thinking I should divvy my meals up over 6/day instead. But from everything I've heard, I shouldn't be snacking that late anyways. Those last few hours are definately the death of me, anyways.

Oh, for sure. I can't imagine reaching my totals at 5 pm and knowing I wasn't going to bed until 11. I think I'd have to hit the sack at 5:30 pm that night just so that breakfast came sooner.

Yes, planning your meals better is necessary.
That being said, you could eat a big salad (no root veggies, just fibrous ones) with vinegar, no oil.

If you find the answer to this, let me know. I had eaten all my food today by 2pm. Of course, my day started at 2am. All the same, it's 10pm now and I'm not in bed yet. There was no way I could just not eat until tomorrow.
I don't think it's wise to just not eat then.
But....something has to be planned better.

I'm getting a bigger lunchbox/cooler. I guess if I'm just going to go home and eat what I cooked last night anyway, I might as well bring it with me for just those occasions! I can eat out of a lunch box just as well at home as I can at work.
It was an exceptionally rough day, though. Not common.

looks like you need to just break down the meals into smaller ones. If you are adding meals, you are adding cals and therfore not sticking to your plan, then what's the point?

Tell me about it - my husband works shifts (3 days, 3 nights) and he has a really hard time understanding that getting home in the morning, sleeping, and then getting up to go to work that night does NOT constitute 2 whole days worth of meals! It's still only a 24 hr period....
