A friend of mine is going to a trainer who is making her do everything one legged. For example, leg press, squats, etc. Is there any reason for this? I think I would fall on my face with some of them.:pimpslap:

To the exclusion of all bilateral leg movements? Is there a glaring strength imbalance across both legs that he/she is trying to correct?

Single leg movements are a very strong addition to any lower body program though. They, as mentioned above, will help minimize and/or correct bilateral strength imbalances.

They also train balance/proprioception and the knee stabilizers as well. How many times to people try bulgarian squats for the first time, only to feel they're going to topple over every three reps? Over time, this goes away due to improvements in stabilization and balance.

In short, unilateral leg work is great. However, the only reason I might use it to the exclusion of all bilateral leg work would be if there was an obvious strength imbalance that needed correcting.

Yep, no bilateral movements at all. Maybe this is to help her IT band injury???
