Should I spread out my fish oils and vitamins?

Usually b/c it's a challenge for me to take them, anyway, I just take them all at once. I was thinking that the vitamin C is a lot to take all at once because there is some in the multi, too. So, I suppose I should take them in at least 2 doses, huh?

I know the answer is going to be yes, it's better, but am I wasting them taking it all at once?

I will wait for someone more knowledgeable to answer, but I was always told to spread out my VitC during the day.

You don't want to take something with iron and calcium together, as they inhibit the absorption of each other. And if you're taking Vitamin C (or any other separate supplements), yes, you should take them apart from your multi.

As for fish oil, it doesn't matter.

I take my supps in divided doses, because it's too much to take all at once.

My plan doesn't say to take them separately...I take my multi, vit c, vit e and fish oils all at one

But it does say when to take them.

I know what my program says. I wanted to know the reason behind it. Does only so much C get absorbed at one time...etc.

No, your question was this actually.

Should I spread out my fish oils and vitamins?

To which I answered - what does your program say? Which answers your question.

:p

I believe relative absorption of Vitamin C for example is better with smaller doses. So on a percentage scale, 500mg would have greater relative absorption than 1000mg. That's how I've always understood it.

Because there's evidence that a proportion of EFA's get used for energy (which I suppose is fairly obvious actually), I try and remember to take fish oils alongside a meal containing fat - the idea being that the EFA's get to do what I want them to, as opposed to simply being a source of energy.

Can't hurt, anyway.

Me too Ali!

I take chewable Vitamin C, liquid Multivitamin, and liquid concentrate fish oil, and my Vitamin E is so small it really doesn't matter.

It's a mental thing (at least for me it is...I'm sure I'm mental  )

Someone in a health food store once told me I shouldn't take any of the "oils" with other vitamins. Can't remember why they said that, but I follow that suggestion for some reason, not sure if I should. It would be a heck of a lot easier if I took them all at once.

Is this correct? I know you can use MCTs as an energy source since they are metabolized differently, but I was unaware EFAs were similar.
