I did these the other day & felt a weird "bulge" (can't describe it) in my neck when lifting the weights over my head. It hurt & I could hardly lift any weight....I found them extremely uncomfortable & am wondering if I could sit when doing these instead? Will I benefit just as much from sitting than standing?

Then I would be hardly lifting anything! I don't feel this exercise in my shoulders at all, it feels useless to me.

You could sit, but standing brings more muscle into play. Your core works while you are standing, but I don't see any reason why you could not sit and do them. JMO

Exercise effectiveness isn't based on 'feeling' the movment. Overhead pressing hits your shoulders hard, whether you 'feel' it or not.

To answer your original question, yes you can certainly do it seated. You might try doing them seated, but with no back support as often when you do them with back support there is a tendency to almost turn it into a very high incline press.

Standing DB press is one exercise I love to hate. Of course I know this adds nothing to the thread, just wanted to share.
