Leah, thanks for posting before about using a tennis ball to loosen your IT band. I have had a big old knot in my left glute for what seems like forever, and I went out and got some tennis balls to use to self massage. I would get an aching pain down the back of my leg on the one side quite regularly. Anyhow this makes it very easy to targe the knot and work it out :)

Thanks again for posting about the tennis ball, I wouldn't have thought of it ;)

Ditto. I just started doing this last week on my quads/glutes and what a difference it has made - although it hurts like hell while I am doing it. Thanks for the advice Leah.

Can't take credit for that one girls....Amy hounded me for weeks to get me to use it, lol. Glad it's working for you though ;)

I lean against the wall w/ it.

Lean against the wall on it or lie on the floor. Tennis balls and racquetballs are excellent for self-massage on the back as well. They provide enough pressure to relieve the muscle tension, but have enough "give" to them that you don't injure yourself. I am a massage therapist and I keep a package of tennis balls at work to send home with my clients. :)
