View Full Version : Baby on its way?

I am officially 34 weeks and am a little anxious about baby arriving next week (my last babe came at 35 weeks) I know labour is not activity dependent and I plan to still go to the gym twice this week but I can't help but be a little antsy. Don't really know why I started this thread, I guess I just need people to tell me it will be ok as my hub is at work and my kids look at me weird when I talk to them about this stuff  I have had 2 c-sections and am having weird "wake me up at night" thoughts about this section too. Think this is all hormones?
C
Everything will be ok!
Yes it's probably the hormones, excitement, anxiousness, past experience, nesting, ...ect.. The last few weeks are always 'antsy'
I'm so excited for you!

Everything will be ok. I am sure it is the hormones.

The hormones sure mess with you don't they ??? I was having strange and disturbing birth dreams last night, too!
You will be fine.. try not to worry and just keep doing what you are doing :o You are doing great especially with your workouts :train:
OOoohh babies are exciting!! Good luck with everything!

I am packing my hospital bag today  Actually all has been going well. I only had one bad bit of contractions on Friday and they settled down so I may make it to June 12th yet. I want to be prepared though just in case. I am 35 and a half weeks and getting excited. Boy? girl? I don't know but the bets are on in our house.
C
Glad to hear everything is ok.
June 12th! That's like a little over 2 weeks!
Do you 'feel' if it's a boy or girl? Some people say they 'just new'..

I have one of each already and can't say I knew with either of them so it is really up in the air. I am shaped like I have a boy in there but I was sick like I have a girl so ??????
C
Ya I didn't really 'know' with mine. I thought I was going to have a boy because everyone kept saying that I carried like a boy, out in front. I was so convinced it was going to be a boy that when she was born my husband had to nudge me and say "It's a girl!" and I said oh! :p
did you buy your granny panties?

Don't worry, sweetie. :)
My 1st child was born at 35 weeks, but my second arrived almost a week late.
Again, don't worry. You'll be fine and so will you little bundle o' joy! :)

Yes I got them :ban: They are truly awful even on the picture on the box but they will do the trick and allow me to laugh and sneeze and caough after the c-section. I take minimal meds after the actual c so I need some kinda outside help. :funny:

These are obviously supportive 'granny panties'? I'm asking because I was at the baby store yesterday and saw some type of post-partum support thing to wear and I wondered if it helped with pain/recovery after a c-section? Depending on the results of my ultrasound next month and the size of the baby, I am considering telling the doctors to schedule a c-section on my due date and if I go before - great!

I actually bought full out girdle type underwear  . They have a panel in the front that presses your tummy in. I tend to wear them off and on for the first few weeks becasue it is so painful to laugh or cough or sneeze and it helps with the weird feeling that your guts are going to fall out. I also like to think they are the reason I did not get the c-section shelf many women get but I could be blowing smoke. The last reason helps me get over their ugliness
C
liberty when do you start wearing them? The very next day?

After the staples are out typically this is when I get home from the hospital. I tell my husband to avert his eyes if I am geeking around in just my undies. He says he pretends they are adidas shorts from the 80's to help him cope  Let me know if you wear them too so I am not alooooone.

Thanks!
If I go the c-section route I will definitely get these! They can't make me look any worse than I think I looked after the c-section with my daughter! I still looked very pregnant and bloated.
I wonder if these would be good even if you don't have a c-section??? My abs were pretty stretched out from my daughter so I'm a little afraid of what they will be like this time  After she was born and I lost the bloat (which was relatively quick), I still had a pooch for several months. I wonder if it would help to have some extra support after delivery to push things back in a bit? I'll have to do a little more research....

I was talking to a woman the other day, who said that after her first pregnancy, her mother came over and they "strapped down" her belly (after a VBirth). Apparently it is the norm in their culture (she's from Guyana) to do this to encourage the tummy to to flatten. I couldn't imagine doing this, but maybe those uber-support granny-undies might do something. Who knows.....I think I'll stick with my comfy cotton big a... grannies post delivery :)

I think if you have a v-birth perhaps the tighty undies might delay your stomach muscles kicking back in themselves?? Should we ask Erik? I just know with a c-section when everything is cut you need the support until you can start engaging you abs yourself.

Baby is still in and I am 37 weeks so it's all good now. I did a cool belly cast (picutres on my O2 journal). It could be any day. I am sooo ready.

I am not artsy enough to paint mine  I just keep it white. It is fun to pull them out when the kids are older to show them the different shapes of mommy's belly depending on the kid.
