Question...can you lose weight and maintain muscle as long as you get your daily requirements of protein, but keep the calories low? Like in Lyle Mcdonalds "protein fast". Just wondering. I thought maybe I could jump start my weight loss this way. Then go in to major weight lifting , and some HIIT. My calorie intake is between 500 and 800 a day, depending on the type of protein I am consuming. But the protein totals at 120-140. So would that be ok, or does a starvation mode set in?? I have only been doing this for two days. But I want to continue, yet I don't if it will mess me up. Protein is from protein shakes and cottege cheese. I am short with too much weight on my bones right now.:(

You're eating 500-800 calories a day right now?!?!?
I thought you said in your other post that you were starting with Erik soon... i heard that he wants you to eat at maintenance calories before you start with him.

i remember being on the dr.bernstein diet one time for 3 weeks... i think those calories were around 600-800 calories a day and i could barely walk i was soooo tired all the time. walking up the stairs was a challenge. i was so weak. i was starving too of course and no energy to go to the gym.

Oh no! Did he??? Oh I will then. I think I might have said that. I am just not sure what to do. I thought it might be good to do some kind of protein fast. I geuss I have too much time on my hands when it come to planing a diet or what and how to eat. That is all that's on my mind lately. I wanted my body to be ready and willing for when I get my plan. My brain is weird. I can't wait to startwith Erik, so I try and organize things on my own, wrong I know. Just thought maybe some of you guys might have done somthing like this?

Wow! 3 weeks you are strong! Did you lose alot of weight? Sorry I know, not important. Yes I have been slightly light headed, but I thought it was because I stupidly lifted some weights. I am stupid, I try to speed things along by overdoing stuff. I am either starving myself and exercising like crazy or binging non stop and not moving a muscle. Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!:wavesad:

I know that when i was waiting for Erik's plan i was trying to stuff my face with all the food i wouldnt be allowed to have... it was good times... i really enjoyed eating all that super delicious food, but i ate that way so i wouldnt miss the food. now i've been with Erik for 12 weeks and i get cheat meals so thats when i have something bad for me but tasty.

It all sounds sooo wonderful! 12 weeks that's great! I can't wait to be at that point! Soon, I must be patient. That's very hard for me. I am 5 foot 2 inches, and 135lbs. It is all in my tum-tum. I hate that. Guess that's where it all goes when you binge.

hey.... all my fat goes to my stomach too... and back of my arms... and my legs were fat too but not so much anymore. my stomach is my main problem but i know it will eventually go away.

 Yeah! I know it will all go away some day with Eriks' help! I just can't wait to feel comfy with my body again. I think I have just done way to many bad diets:sad0116:

i've tried so many different diets too... this is the longest i've stayed on a diet plan. you can try to look at my before and afters in that thread in the chat section. you'll see how my stomach is my problem area. im 5'4 138 pounds now. started at 150 and i've lost a total of 10 inches.

it takes time... this is something that im struggling too... i always want to see results now, but slowly you'll get there:thumb:
let me know when you get ur plan! you'll love it, the workouts are hard too, you really feel like you had a good workout.

PSMF is what you are refering to, there a few threads with great info here from those that have used this TEMPORARY protocol. It is not for proglonged dieting, training needs to change and other fine points. Reading the book would help.

that being said, IMHO, if you are starting with Erik soon, wait, dont go doing anything drastic. :)
Time, hard work, dedication, belief in yourself and taking it one day at a time... Think positive ladies!

no.... no one needs carbs in EVERY meal. variety of food choices also offers a greater intake of all essential vitamins and minerals.
perhaps a couple meals, but not all meals every day.

I agree, you need some greens in there too. Carbs at every meal are fine, but give yourself some variety

okey dokey! I just had a cup of cottage cheese and celery . Still a bit hungry, stinks cause I feel a binge com'n on. I am dreaming about apples, and plums, and ezekiel bread, and cereal. I am a carb freak. I wish you could get lean and build muscle with carbs, wouldn't life be wonderful then! Oh well, I guess I will be this way till I get a plan. Moderation, I stink at it.:(

You can build muscle and get lean with carbs. Its all about the timing of them.

Add some fat to that meal..nuts, natural peanut butter...it will keep you fuller longer.

Also, you CAN get lean with carbs, I bet most people working with Erik eat carbs ;)

Oh, I am in Wappingers Falls, it's between Westchester and Rhinebeck. You might know those places better. We also have a cabin in Schroon lake, that's close to Lake George. I think that's a little closer kinda.

Grr my mom lives in NC and she just sent me an email telling me about her fabulous warm day buying new plants and getting fish for her pond.

Meanwhile I'm in 3 layers of clothes and slippers and still freezing my ass off.
