I went out to the track to do my HIIT today and when I started out for my 1st sprint my quads cramped up pretty bad. I wasn't even able to jog. I had to walk for 15 min. and then leave. Has anyone else ever had this happen? Do you know how to prevent it?

The pain is still there!!! And, it has been an hour!!!

Hmm, I am not sure about quad pain. I generally get sore in my hip flexors though. But that is always afterwards.

Where are the hip flexors?

I do some regular stretches and dynamic stretching to loosen them up.

Thanx, Brandi.

you stretch before?

I do the dynamic stretching before to warm things up, especially if I am outside. Regular static stretches I do a several nights a week.

I don't stretch regularly. I guess that's my prob'.

Don't like it much :curse: but I guess I better start.

Thanx, Brandi :)

I don't like it either. But is is a necessary evil.

Dynamic warm ups.

If you're not 'prepared' to sprint, you're liklihood of getting hurt increases.

So what are some examples of dynamic warmup moves for HIIT?

how much is "some" dynamic stretches.......I think most people under estimate their warm ups.

rest and ice.

So how much should you actually do? For how long?

can't answer that question. it depends on how much warm up you need.

If I am doing sprint type stuff, it may be about 20min. before I get to my full sprints because I am working on all kinds of things, like technique, etc....

are you kidding me? Your first post was on the 15th and you hurt yourself. I said...rest and ice.

now, 2 days later you are trying to do Intense sprints again? What happened to the rest part?? Did you ice?

Go back....read the part that says rest and ice.....and do it.

You and I are so much alike, Blondell. The doctor chewed me out yesterday for continuing to lift with a bad wrist.

We must rest!
