Today is my day for questions. Does anyone have a good remedy for cracked heels. Spring has barely sprung and my heels are already cracked and quite painful (I'm falling apart). I use a foot cream daily, but the cracks are deep and hurt. Any suggestions?

Vaseline and cotton socks overnight! Not really attractive, but it gets the job done.

My heels crack and bleed and can be hard to walk on. The thing that as helped me the most is keeping the dead skin filed off and then keeping them moisterized. I also use a pumice stone on them when showering.

You haven't been having dairy, did you?

Bag Balm works great too. It was originally developed to keep cow's udders from drying and cracking. Yeah, sounds gross, but it works.

A big YES to the vaseline or bag balm and socks at night. ESPECIALLY after soaking them. There's also this totally icky stuff called "Corn Huskers Lotion" that you can find at most drug stores. That stuff works really well too. . .and it's cheap. LOL.

Vaseline at night makes the heels really slippery the next morning. Much harder to walk in heels like that.:(

Not to my knowledge, why?

Because whenever I indulge in dairy, I get cracked heels. I had it really bad back when I had Quark every day. After I stopped it went away. When I started again, it came back again.

Someone suggested that apart from dairy allergy, lactose intolerance there's also something like calcium overload from dairy.

Weird. I've never had that problem.

Beacuse I'm at the beach a LOT all year 'round and go from waterlogged to hot sand I've get calluses really quick - which crack and dry, etc. etc. I've had to sleep in lotiony/vaseliney socks three times a week for a decade. Scary, isn't it? LOL.

Oh - anyway, my point was that I've never had a problem wearing my shoes the next day. And I've got some reeeeeee-diculous shoes, ladies!

This site has some good stuff

crackly footsies go here (http://www.healthyfeetstore.com/crackedheels.html)

Cremes with urea are supposed ot good for getting the dead skin off. Soaking and exfoliating with a sea salt or sugar scrub and then grease those puppies up at night.

A good way to get started is to get a good spa peddie, they will remove alot of the dead skin and smooth things out.

I agree - start with a pedicure, and then invest in a pumice stone with a handle. Scrub away at those scaly heels once or twice a week.

And moisturize, moisturize!!
