So say you woke up in the middle of the night starving and ended up eating chocolate (or some other junk food), how would you deal with your calories/meals the next day? Should I count those calories in my fitday and make a concerted effort to eat less than I normally would during the rest of the day?
I've never woken up to eat junk food before and I can't see it ever happening again, so I guess I'm just looking for some advice on how to compensate for my poor decision making. Thanks!

The past is the past, treat it as a normal day.

Thank you so much for the advice, I think that's exactly what I needed to hear. Gotta keep moving forward! :)

Sparrow, are you eating enough during the day and evening hours to combat the midnight starvation? Also, are you taking any sleeping medication?

radgirl, I think that I need to move my evening meal closer to bedtime. I have a bad habit of eating my last meal at like 5:30, so by the time I go to bed I'm already hungry.
I'm not currently taking any sleep meds, but I do have a tendency to make up in the middle of the night and not fall back asleep until it's time to get up in the morning. I appreciate your help!

I would not compensate by eating less the next day. This only creates an unhealthy behavior. Just move on and learn from it :)
Why do you stop eating at 5:30PM? I would certainly be starving too and I would raid the fridge if I stopped eating that early before going to bed. Just because you eat in the evenings or close to bedtime doesn't mean it will turn to fat

At 5:30 P.M. I still have two meals left to go before I hit the sack.
Fewer than that would have me up all night noshing on God knows what.

Definitely bump at least one meal about 30-60 minutes before bed. I do this and its a sanity saver. If I don't eat before bed time, there will be issues come the middle of the night. Make sure that final meal is filling, but doesn't stuff you up.

I too eat right up until bed, I have to otherwise I can't sleep at all.
Last night I woke up in the middle of the night STARVING. This never happens to me. But, I listened to my body and I ate (cottage cheese w/ peanut butter and a few bites of cereal). I am not counting the calories, just sucking it up as less of a deficit for the week

These are all really good points and I'm going to work on spreading out my meals over the day so I can eat my last meal(s) later in the evening. I guess meal timing is probably one of my weaker points in planning out my day.
I love cottage cheese and pb and it sounds like a great idea to have before bed.
