How does one go about figuring it out?

Curious :lifter:

if you squat or dl
xx for say 5
xx for say 3
what would a xx for 1 look like?

No way to tell.

Beginners are usually a lot different than intermediates when it comes to guessing about rep-max equivalents. Intermediates are a lot different than advanced when it come to guessing about rep-max equivalents.

The only way to accurately determine your 1RM is to go for a 1RM. There is no other way.

Eileen, I use an excel file that I got off of BR and it is suprisingly accurate for me. I just went to BR to find the thread to post but I can't find it for some reason. But you can look around there or PM me your email and I will send you the file.

There's even a calculator on this site:

Edited to say, that I venture it's an educated guess and one would still need to adher to Nike, and 'Just Do It' to really know. :thumb:

Uh...I just try to squat/bench whatever for as much as I can do for one rep. Why are you using formulas?
