Help - all of ya'll talk about how spaghetti squash is a great clean substitute for pasta...

I've never made it before so first things first...

1) how do I make it?

2) any fabulously clean recipes using this wonderful veggie?

Cut in half. Bake at 350 for around 45 minutes.

Scrap out inside: will look stringy. Sprinkle any kind of herb, cheese, whatever.

Quite yummy.

I microwave the entire squash for about 2 minutes b/c it makes it easier to cut in half. I then scoop out the seeds put one half in a microwave dish with a little water at the bottom, set it in there skin side up, cover it and micro about 6-7 minutes or until tender enough to shred it out with a fork. It is really good.

I do what strongchick does... but sprinkle it with parmesan, and add small pieces of broccoli to the mix.. so good!

I poke holes in mine with a knife and microwave the whole thing for about 12 minutes(I have a pretty powerful microwave). I let it sit for about 5-10 minutes then cut in half and deseed it. DH and I  spaghetti squash! We use it in place of pasta. So while our kids have pasta sauce with whole wheat pasta, we use spaghetti squash.

ok, i'm really confused, i'm from australia and we have different names for everything. what we call squash is bright yellow and like a heart shape the size of your fist. From what i've gathered, the squash you use to make spagetti squash is also called a zucchini, is this right??

No, not a zucchini. A spaghetti squash is more oval in shape and is yellow. Check out this link. It has a picture of it. Hope this helps! :)

Cut in half and bake at 350 for 40 minutes or until skin is soft when pierced with a fork. I serve mine with some yummy homemade tomato sauce and then add some freshly grated parmesan. Yummy
