View Full Version : Headache on low carb day...(carb cycling)

I'm just started carb cycling and noticed that on my lower carb days. I'm getting headaches, not even Aleve is helping. Is this a normal? If so, should this go away once I get used to it. It's only been 10 days so far.
I've never got headaches from low carb days ...I don't see the connection :unsure:

Hmm, well, I was drinking water all day yesterday which was my low day, today is my medium and I feel alright so far. I guess I'll have to wait and see later on in the day which is usually when it starts. So basically from what I'm gathering, low carb days shouldn't result in headaches...so this may be linked to something else...or even though I'm drinking water, I might need more.....right?

how much water are you drinking exactly? If you are drinking so much on low carb days to combat hunger that you are depleting electrolytes you will experience a mild, nagging headache.

My husband used to get headaches from low carbs. I don't think its uncommon.

I dont get headaches but I do feel miserable on low carb. Maybe your body just doesn't agree well with it?

I had about 3.5 -4 liters yesterday...I was doing it to combat hunger...I didn't realize that it could do harm that way.

Miserable, yes, I am on low carb days....it might have been intensifed by the headache also... so if my body doesn't agree with it now, is it something that could be trained? As in, not going as low as I have been on the low carb days and gradually bring it down. And drink less water if I'm doing it to stop the stomach grumbles.

I dont know if you can train it to agree with you. Someone else may be able to answer that. I know for me personally, I can't go too low. I just feel awful. I just choose not to carb cycle because of that.

What about diluting a mini gatorade with your water?
Are you eating every 3-4 hours? If I go too long without eating, I get shaky & a headache.

I am eating about 3-4 hours. I eat at the same time everyday. Thanks for the Gatorade Idea, I'll try it tomorrow or Sunday.
