Tremendous.

It's nota cure-all or anything, but the ART is extremely effective for a whole host of 'injuries'. It's not the most comfortable thing, especially if you get it on things like hip flexors, subscapularis, etc, but the effects are often seen after even one treatment.

Thanks guys. That helps.
I am sure cost varies, but the guy I called charges $110 for the initial evaluation, then $75 for each treatment. Does this sound reasonable? Think I might check a few other places too.

Holy cow! I pay $35 (Canadian). And that includes any adjustments I get.

I try not to look at the monetary assignment tho for many it is a consideration. That part sux, but the things she's done and what i've learned from it has helped me tremendously. It will benefit me moving forward. Having gone there, i seriously saved myself from hurting myself down the road and Im not even talking from a lifting stand point. Every morning i used to wake with such stiff back pain and the slightest reason my back would go out.

My back hasnt felt like that for a long time unless i tweak it somewhat training. Even then, i recover FAST because i learned how to. It has been great thing for me. Im actually greatful i pulled my back out last yr and Erik suggested the ART.

see even chiros are not in the 'real' terms for my insurance. and from the stand point of where chris works(the doc is a sports med doc and rated number #1 in the whole air force) think they are crocs this is why i have a hard time going to one.

results speak for themselves. try it out Michelle and see yourself if it's crock. certainly don't let an insurance company decide what's "real" or not!!

there is no way in hell i could pay for it without insurance.

Well...... you can go to the website and see if there a dr that is 'properly' certified. Some are sport med drs.

I love it. I was having a lot of trouble w/my hip flexors and after a few weeks of ART, no more pain or troubles. My insurance pays for it...luckily...all I pay is 10% which is about $20-30 per visit. so.worth.it

10% of the fee is still $20-$30? So the chiro charges 200-300 per visit? That's insane.

I pay $35 as well...in BC. He is a chiro as well. Love it.

Michelle - see it as possible that you will be able to see an ART specialist, and that money will come for you to do it.

What is Active Release Technique (ART)?

ART is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

Three years ago I took a really bad fall and wrenched my shoulder. The ROM in my shoulder was severely compromised and it hurt so much I had to stop training shoulders.

I finally went to see a physio who does ART. He fixed me up in no time.

I haven't had any probs with my shoulder since then.

I paid $40 or $45 per session and my insurance covered it 100%.

As Erik pointed out, it hurts like a sumbitch if you get the subscapularis treated.

Just had my first couple of ART treatments (hip & shoulder) and even though it hurt like a b...... :shhh: it was really good. He would like to see me 2-3 times a week for the next couple of weeks to give me some really intensive treatment.

Only problem is that he said I shouldn't do any weight training for the next two weeks  so I've had to put off training with Erik until I get the all clear.

Thanks so much for all your posts about ART because if this thread hadn't been started I would not have found out about this great therapy.

Have a great weekend

I have been going to a doc for my wrists the last two months. So far so good, I have an issue due to the computer/carpal tunnel and I think it was also triggered by tennis.

Don't sweat the two weeks. It's nothing in the long run.
