View Full Version : Where can I find nutrients?
Our sweet potatoes are bright purple and I'm trying to figure out if they have an equivalent amount of nutrients to "regular" sweet potatoes. Is there a good website that has nutrient content for unusual foods like that? Fitday only has so much.

Where do you live?! I've never seen that.
Okinawa, Japan. These kids LOVE them some purple sweet potato. They even have sweet potato ice cream - that's bright purple.

 That's cool. Have you googled it?
I have, but I just get "they're good in general, lots of antioxidants." Apparently they have the same antioxidant that blueberries have.

Okay, I've been researching it a bit and it appears that in recipes and such they are used interchangebly. They may have the same, or very similar, nutritional values as regular sweet potatoes. I'm intrigued by this and am still researching it. If I obtain more info on the nutritional value I'll let ya know. :)

Thanks, but don't put yourself out for it. :) I am munching some purple sweet potato chips right now. They are so good.

I'm not putting myself out. I just love to learn new things. :)
Good then. Depending on your location, you might be able to grow them. I am about the same climate as Miami, FL.
Dang, these things are addicting! I need to stop!

One of my friends studied in Japan, and he says the thing he misses the most is the purple sweet potato.
