View Full Version : hemorrhoids-Dr?
Ok, I think I have the most posts for hemorhroids:lol3:
when I was preggy, I got them and they even bled a little....
so then I gave birth (and pushed out my backards facing baby for 2.5 hrs!!)
so my poor butt...a couple of weeks ago they got really bad again and are bleeding really bad and they hurt like crazy! so I'm dreading going to the Dr but know I have to...which Dr should I be seeing? my OB or regular Dr or can they just tell me to go to a specialist? B/c when I mentioned it to OB he said well, if they are really bad then you'll have to get a type of surgery:shock:
did any one have that done?:help:
I would start with your OB since she/he already knows the situation. Even just call them and see what they say.
Surgery? That doesn't sound like fun.

The surgery is HORRIBLE. I had it about 4 years ago. I had the bleeding ones really bad and called my GP, who told me to go see a proctologist, who ended up operating the very next day.
If you have to have the surgery, and have any questions at all, feel free to PM me. It took me about 10-12 months to FULLY heal. I hope you don't have to have the surgery. In the meantime, something that has helped me, was to soak some cotton balls in witch hazel, and apply to the hemmorhoids. I would do this all day if I had to. Also, keeping your feet elevated will help (and i know this will be a challenge with a newborn, as I'm sure you're runnign all over the place :)).
Hang in there though...and like I said, feel free to PM me with any questions.
thanks and oh no!:scared: I can't believe how bad they hurt so I'm dreading news like that! there goes getting back into the gym eh?

I used to get really bad hemorrhoids when I was younger. At one point they were hurting so much I had to have them removed.
I didn't have surgery. Instead, my procotologist performed a rubber band ligation.

I can't believe my second post will be about this subject.
My regular doctor gave me a cream to shrink them. I had bleeding and plenty of pain. The cream really worked. That was 6 months ago.

I got to thinking about this last night. Why??? Not really sure.
But it wasn't a cream, but a suppository.
Not that is TMI!!!!!!

OH it's all good...I'm convinced that once you've had these really bad, nothing is TMI. I think since they are bleeding, the suppositories/creams may not be a strong enough option. It may provide some relief, but the doc is probably going to want to remove those bad boys.
I wished the rubber band ligation had been an option for me. I would have preferred that by far.

andi......this sucks.....i have one from the 1st baby that still rears it's ugly head once and a while........make sure you stay regular and DO NOT get constipated....it makes it SOOOOO much worse......take extra magnesium(if it is baby friendly)to help that........the witch hazel is a good idea!! and i sure hope you do not have to have surgery!!
