Just returned from a 7 day cruise to Bermuda this morning. Would anyone believe me if I told them that all I had to eat for seven days was grilled chicken, broccoli, oatmeal and egg whites? I even worked out by doing 2 HIIT sessions and 4 training sessions. My intention was to take the "week off" and enjoy all the food and buffett's and get back on track when I returned. I couldn't bring myself to "undo" all the hard work I invested at the gym and in my kitchen

That is very impressive.

I'd have never been able to do that.

Vacations are all about the food for me.

I was in a bathing suit just about every day - that alone will get me to stick to my good eating habits

Wow, I am impressed as well, I understand the whole swimsuit thing, thats one of the few things that would keep me in check in a situation like that, but it would probably have to be coupled with a cute guy that I really like, being around

There was a 24-hr grill that served only pizza, burgers & grilled chicken. The pizza looked very tempting but I overcame the urge to eat any by the second day. Room svc was available 24 hr too. It usually took 45min to an hour to get delivered to the room. So, around 8am I would call room svc & order grilled chix & steamed veggies, go workout and by the time I was done & back in my room to shower, my order would arrive. ;) . At dinner, the food varied every night, but grilled chix & veggies was always available. My family thought I was out of my tree for choosing such boring foods.

Willpower and determination of STEEL!! Great job.I think we as a nation need to get over gatherings and vacations being all about the food instead of being about being with ones we care about and the experiences we share.

WOW. I don't know how you did that, but great job! I try to eat healthy on trips just because I feel like crap when I eat like crap and then it kind of dampens my trip.

I know for me healthy eating and working out have become a way of life and not just a temporary phase to meet a deadline for a special occasion or something of the sort.

It's become a way of life for me, too, but part of it being a maintainable way of life is including a bit of flexbility as well-- at least for me.

I enjoy eating clean. I like how it makes me feel, both physically and mentally-- but if I couldn't splurge once in awhile, I think I'd go crazy.

I am a BIG food person, and always have been. If I've eaten well for, say, 37 out of 42 meals in a week, then I've found that's enough to reach my goals (but I'm still young so maybe I have that on my side, LOL).

I'm not big on sweets or junk food, but I'm going to miss out on lobster ravioli or other worthwhile treats once in awhile like going out for Thai food.

But then, if you don't need it, more power to you. I know some people just aren't as big on food in general.

I do have one cheat meal a week. My way of eating is flexiible, otherwise I don't think this lifestyle could be long-term

Oh wow, on vacations I find Key Lime pie and eat as many as I can. You don't normally find key lime pie in Ohio, but always when I'd vacation on the outer banks of NC. Not that I've even seen the beach in 4-5 years :(

No beach in 4 or 5 years?! Oh Mandy, you should come visit me sometime, I live 15 minutes from the ocean. :hi: I wouldn't be able to function without the feel of sand in between my toes and sea salt on my skin. Love the ocean.

Amen! I just came back from a 5 day vacation to FL, and after 18 strict months of training, I totally indulged. Of course, it made me feel like crap, and we don't want to even talk about the bloat, but all in all it was nice to forget about cals. Today is my first day back, and I feel reinvigorated! (Although I can't wait to get rid of this horrible water retention!!)
