Are you planning on getting the flu shot this season and if so why. I am still debating this issue myself.

No.

I don't think I ever have. I don't see the point.

They basically 'guess' at the strain.

No, I've never had one. I never get the flu either. I had a very mild case once.

I have never gotten the flu vaccine. For many of the reasons others have mentioned. However, I am rethinking my stance this year.

I always figured I didn't need it. I am young and healthy. Even if I do catch the flu, my chances of dying are slim.

However, if I were to catch the flu I might infect someone that would not be so lucky. The flu can be very deadly to the elderly and very young. So the way I see it getting the shot is not going to hurt me in any way (that I am aware of), but it could reduce the chance of someone else being infected by me.

This thought process came about because last year, hubby got the flu and very graciously passed it on to his mom and two toddlers. Also, a friend's baby was likely infected by a family friend and wound up hospitalized for over a week.

Of course we cannot be 100% certain the vaccine would have prevented this, but we can't be 100% certain the vaccine would not have prevented this either. :)

I am not looking at it from the standpoint of "why should I?", but "why shouldn't I?".

My husband and I get it to protect our daughter,
One yr we all got it and it wipped us out.
I don't want to give it to her but we get it and it's worked out well.

Not me. I've never had one. I don't have any particular justification aside from laziness, though.
