Do the various brands of vitamins differ that greatly?
I have been using Metagenics but know many friends who simply use the NOW brand or the various ones from Target. Does the quality of them differ that much? If so, is this due to the absorption rate?

All you have to do is read the labels. Some of them do provide things that others don't. As far as absorption,

I use NOW brand only. I do believe most of the companies do not monitor or back there promise for potency of the vitamins themself. I know of NOW and Icannot remeber the name of the other one off the top of my head. Example I use NOW Borage oil for :grrr: and :pms: and once I bought it at CVS buy 1 get 1 and I could tell within a week that it was not working.

I use mostly Trader Joe's and Purity brands.
I do like Jarrow Formulas
Me too.
Something to take into consideration is not just price but also dose and formulation. Jarrow Formulas' vitamins contain the more costly but vastly more effective methyl-B12 instead of the usual malabsorbing cyano-B12. And so on for many other minerals & vitamins inside.
The majority of multivitamins contains iron, a totally unnecessary addition since iron often needs to be subtracted from a person, viz. giving blood is a good advice for most men. Only menstruating women and people with a proven iron deficiency may have some extra iron in their diet.
So, the first and easiest thing to look at is whether the vitamin includes iron or not. If it does, it should already be crossed off the list unless you're have a proven need for more iron.
