Why wouldn't you want at least a decent amount of carbs pwo?
I'm not saying go crazy but you can eat till you're reasonably full. PWO is not the time to deny calroies imo.
I just can't fathom someone building a significant amount of strength going to failure on every set.

I don't but like others have mentioned one carb is prettymuch as good as another right after the workout. I try to get some high GI carbs first...

Lately it's been gatorade or powerade for me but today my latest supplement order came in and included some waxy maize starch. Very easy to drink.

Yes I think some rest is what you need. Say you're working out 4 days a week, take it down to 1.5-2x per week for a couple weeks or a month...
For motivational purposes I prefer to decrease the volume/frequency of my training instead of simply not working out.
