Yes, I know, but the fruit has a lot of nutritional properties, starches aren't getting digested properly and glucose is giving me serious problems. Fructose is nice for being a slow-release carb and provided you start early in the training it's still 'there' in time.
I don't know how you could eat sugary cereals..for me that would be a trigger..I'll stick to clean carbs (yes I make sure I wash them)
I can stick to "unclean" carbs as long as I have a plan. So I guess one would have to experiment and make sure they can handle it
And that's why I don't eat it after the WO but before and during. And also said to use high-sucrose jams. Glucose makes me feel weird, unless it's sipped which isn't any fun at all. Maltodextrin is good too for sipping but again, no fun at all and no nutritional value. I've tried for nearly 2 years to make post-WO carbs work and frankly gave up a while ago.. and as a result, am getting better results than ever as I can finally control what I'm eating. If I do come short in carbs, I'll be getting the surplus at night time as legumes or potatoes and have an awesome sleep! Carbs put me asleep on any other moment of the day outside lifting or at breakfast. Plus they make me forget I'm on a diet, actually they make me forget just about anything and diet is the las't I'm concerned with on that moment.
It's also a slower-release carb, which means less of an insulin spike, which is not what you want PWO. Someone mentioned dates. That sounds like something really tasty and to the point for PWO. Think I'll try that sometime soon...
Panera is an all time favorite here but when we cant or dont Blueberry and Cinn Raisin are a fav here too.
its not the fact that its slower release that causes the lower insulin spike, its that fructose doesnt relaly cause an insulin effect at all, not until its taken up by the liver and converted into glucose. and sucrose is fine post workout. :yucky: :
Bruegger's bagels are the best! As you might guess from my avatar, I'm partial to the blueberry my other faves are whole wheat, pumpernickel, cinnamon raisin, and sourdough
