Like Erik, I enjoy oatmeal with blueberries on a regular basis. Unlike Erik (apparently), I am now getting to the point where I want a bit of variety.

I do lots of different styles of oatmeal, but specifically in reference to oatmeal + blueberries... Any ideas for kicking it up a notch? Aside from different flavored protein powders, I haven't been able to come up with anything good.

My breaky every day is oatmeal mixed with egg whites, blueberries and a (frozen) banana.

I cook the oatmeal first, then add the egg whites and the frozen banana. I pop the bowl back in the microwave for two minutes to cook the egg whites and thaw the banana. Because the banana is originally frozen it blends in with the oatmeal and egg whites into a puree, and makes the whole mixture nice and thick. I find it much better than just slicing an unfrozen banana into the oatmeal and egg whites after they're cooked. To finish off I add in frozen blueberries, cinnamon, and Splenda.

May you never go wanting for another oatmeal recipe again:

    http://www.katheats.com/kaths-tribute-to-oatmeal/

This chick is KEE-RAY-ZEEEEEE about oatmeal.

I didn't see how many recipes incorporated bluberries... but then, how many variations could there be?

Anyway, hope you find something out of her 6-trillion that you'll want to try.

    Good luck!

This sounds like it might be good. I'm interested in why you freeze the banana, only to then microwave it... Have you tried it with the banana unfrozen, and if so was it different?

For everyone else, thanks for posting links/recipes. I don't live in the States so it's a bit tough finding some of the ingredients, but there are lots of good ideas and I'm sure substitutes exist. I'll experiment and post the winners!

I used to use fresh bananas in my oatmeal for the most part. But I always had some peeled and sliced bananas in the freezer in case of emergency for those times when I didn't have any ripe bananas on hand. At those times, I would use a frozen banana in my oatmeal. I always liked it better that way, but for some reason I never used frozen bananas regularly. I only started doing that within the past six months or so.
